I've just got my Kontrol S49, registered the hardware serial on my account, and downloaded the software (I don't have K10 yet but will be purchasing soon). Whenever I try and run the software though, I can only run in demo mode, and it won't let me activate the product through service center with the hardware serial that came in the box. Is there a second serial number somewhere that I'm missing?

I'm also not getting sound out of it now... is that because of it being not activated?

Contacting support by phone usually seams to work better than over the contact form or by mail:

Regarding the original question about the S49 let me report, what I did, because I also got my keyboard earlier than my K10:

I didn't register the keyboard, but only downloaded the driver to be able to use it as a MIDI keyboard. Everything worked at once in MIDI mode. I used it with Reaper and Komplete 8 Demo. Make sure the driver is installed correctly. Some users reported problems with the MIDI driver missing in Windows Device Manager.

PS: It makes no sense to install the Kontrol Software without a K9 Kontrol or K10 serial number. If you want to be able to use the keyboard in MIDI mode in the meantime, just install the standalone Keyboard driver, which can be found on the same page, where you download the firmware update.

I have already installed the Kontrol software (I do have the synths that came with Maschine and I was just way to eager to try out the keyboard haha), but I'm assuming it wouldn't be a problem if I just uninstalled the software once by K10 came in and re-installed it again with the K10 install?

EDIT : Thanks realmassl for the info regarding the serial as well. I logged a ticket, but if they take as long as everyone says they do, I may just shoot em a phone call!

Installing Kontrol without having installed and activated Komplete 9 or 10 makes no sense and it's wise to install Komplete first, then update it and then install Kontrol. Registering the keyboard itself is optional.

But if you have installed the standalone keyboard driver, you can use the keyboard in MIDI mode, when you have a software instrument (e.g. Absynth) or a DAW (e.g. Reaper or Cubase), where you can configure it as a MIDI-In device.

okay, this is for every K9 / K9U user: You all have the KOMPLETE KONTROL software in your library, but you have received the serial number by mail months ago most probably. So it's worth looking into old mails.

I have checked my account and it's really there.

... which might be interesting for all users without the keyboard itself, too.
