You have to use iTunes. Traktor DJ and iTunes are integrated and the only way to get music into the iPad music app library is via iTunes and USB from a computer.

Traktor DJ's track collection is collated from the Music app on the iPad.

The Document sharing section is not used to add music to the ipad music library.

You don't need all your music collection in iTunes, just the tracks you wish to use in Traktor DJ.

As a non-iTunes user, this is really confusing. Can someone explain to me the process for dropping tracks into iTunes to be shared?

Here's my situation: Before I grabbed Traktor DJ, I already had Traktor Pro 2. I currently use DropBox to sync my tracks between two computers. I use DropBox for other stuff too. I have a couple hundred tracks in a specific dropbox sub-folder (my "crate"), and these tracks are NOT in iTunes. Finally, I store a bunch of other music in iTunes so that it can be synced to my phone, etc. It's not for DJing.

I don't mind if my DJ tracks end up in iTunes although I'd prefer that they're in a playlist or something so they don't clutter up my other listening or get synced to my phone. But I *definitely* don't want my other non-DJ music to end up in Traktor / Traktor DJ.

How can I selectively import & sync just my DJ tracks?

(I can see how I can add some tracks into iTunes just to get them to Traktor DJ. But that seems like I'd have to make 2 copies of the library, so that I can continue to have a way to move tracks between my laptop and my desktop. And I'm not sure how to point Traktor Pro at a subset of my iTunes library?)

    Thanks for any assistance....

Ok lets take this bit by bit. First off, forget Dropbox for music storage and importing with Traktor DJ. It is not a feature that works.

You don't need all your tracks in Traktor Pro. You have to assign your iTunes Music folder in Traktor (please see the manual for this) but you do not need to add all the tracks to the collection.

Make sure that before you add your iTunes music folder in preferences that you deselect the option: Import Music Folders On Start Up. Only music that you select in the iTunes Browser (within Traktor Pro) and choose Import to Collection will be added to Traktor. Your non DJ music need never be imported to Traktor Pro.

You can create a playlist in iTunes and simply Import that to the Traktor Pro collection assuming that these are the tracks that you eventually want in Traktor DJ.

So, when your tracks are in iTunes and in Traktor Pro and you have done all the prep on the tracks (cues etc). You drag that playlist onto the iPad (connected by USB).

Now, Traktor Pro will export the metadata for all tracks when you sync it with Dropbox. It will export all the metadata for all your tracks in Traktor Pro but this not a problem. It is merely making a collection in Dropbox that Traktor DJ can sync to.

Traktor DJ will import a collection of ALL your iTunes library. Again this is not an issue. No files are moved/copied just a copy of the collection.xml

Traktor DJ finds the metadata that matches the tracks in your newly made iTunes playlist to the tracks in your exported Traktor collection.

    ---------

After syncing your iPad and activating sync in Traktors preferences the following message will be displayed for first time synchronization.

ATTENTION: For first synchronization, do you want to KEEP the information on this computer or would you like the information in TRAKTOR DJ to OVERWRITE this computer?

3 options are granted: Keep, Overwrite, and Cancel.

KEEP: This option will preserve all the metadata found in TRAKTOR DJ and will write this data back to Dropbox with updated timestamps. This will cause the TRAKTOR DJ metadata to be merged (and therefore overwrite) the data on the other systems when they perform their next merge.

OVERWRITE: This option will always import the metadata found on Dropbox regardless of the timestamp or Analysis Lock status of the tracks in TRAKTOR DJ. This will ensure that meticulous work done on the other systems is preserved and added to this instance of TRAKTOR DJ.

CANCEL: This option will cancel the Metadata Sync and will turn the Dropbox Sync switch to off. This allows the user to think about the decision or make any appropriate changes to their content before performing the first Metadata Sync. (credit Salvador)

Thanks Karlos - I think I'm about halfway there, and it looks like the problems are mainly a case where they have prioritized their use case (iTunes to move files to the iPad) over the ways that I normally do things. I might just have to adapt: see each change below.

I have my tracks loaded into an iTunes playlist
(change #1: turning off "organize my music" in iTunes so I don't get two copies - this might affect my normal usage of dragging mixes into iTunes?)
...and that's synced over to my iPad
(change #2: iTunes on my iPad is now filled with DJ tracks - it's a big mess in album view, etc.)
...and at least I've been having some fun with Traktor DJ now!

I haven't yet set up the Traktor Pro side of things, but I did turn on dropbox syncing on both sides. The metadata isn't syncing, maybe because my Traktor Pro tunes are not seen as "the same" as the ones loading from iTunes on the iPad side? Even though they're technically the same files.

It looks like I'll need to starting loading tracks into T Pro from iTunes instead of my dropbox folder
(change #3: turning off "import on startup" which I normally do use, to avoid pollution)
(change #4: having to browse the iTunes list in T Pro to find the music I want? not sure)
and then I'll need to figure out some way to do what I used to do with dropbox (drag tracks from one machine to another)
(change #5: set up a new sync process via iTunes)

I guess my point of feedback (if NI happens to read this) is that if Traktor DJ weren't so cool, this just would not be worth all the changes to my setup. I understand that Traktor DJ is constrained by the iPad's mechanism for syncing music. Seems like there could have been an easier way to sync metadata without requiring any changes on the Traktor Pro side.

    Thanks again for the help!

You have to download iphone data transfer program that can pass music from ipad ipod iphone or other apple device to pc or

    this is the link

you have to connect your ipod

Go to the "Music" option. Just click the small box before the music you want to copy.

Or go to the "File" drop-down menu to select "Export All Music".

Finally, click "Export" to back up songs.

May I know your traktor app on your iPad can read your local music? I know that it lacks of the ability to sync your newly created playlists that you create on your iPad to your Traktor Pro. But it should be OK to sync music on your iPad.
