    Hi Guys,

Does anyone know how to get MASCHINE 2.0 sounds to be triggered by a third party midi pad controller. It seems to only trigger the sound selected in Maschine Software with any given kit assigned to a group.

I have Maschine inserted on an instrument track within Pro Tools 2020.12 but it only plays the same sound on all 16 Pads as a scale basically Keypad Mode instead of triggering each sound corresponding to the assigned midi channel of each pad. Other plugins work fine just trying to figure out NI’s navigation to accomplish the end game.

If you go to input/midi (channel mode) you can set the keyboard you want as input for that pad, then of course it will "only" play the vst you have loaded there but with the full keyboard - or on group level then you play every pad in that group but only one note, a root note is then set (start) note (triggers pad 1 and the following with following notes)

Hi Thank you for your counsel but I don't have any context. What Application are you referring to for Channel Mode and what is the Navigation. Are you referring to Maschine 2.0 Software or PT DAW? There is no Keyboard on the MIDI Pad Controller itself model Akai MPD232.

Note sure if I follow your recommendation. Are you able to provide some more context and detail. I loaded a kit Maschine 2.0 Group and there 16 sounds in that Drum Kit. But all the pads trigger the same sound but varies in pitch as if I am in some kind of Keyboard Mode instead of trigger each sound on a different pad so there has to be some mapping that is required somewhere at least that is my assumptions.

The Akai's pads are programmed from C2 through D # 3 by default.
You can change these settings by creating a new bank.
You can do this with the MPD232 editor, which can be downloaded from the page of the MPD232.

Thanks Rene will give it go as soon as I get my replacement. The new MDP 232 I recently purchased had a defective outer housing where it was warped and doesn’t lay flat on a substrate rendering it impossible to play it accurately due to the excessive shifting of the unit when pads are hit. Stay tuned thank you again

Sorry for answering late again - you have to set in preferences/default - under Sound Default MIDI Input Mode to none!! then you always have to set the midi input manually and also the behavior with it. Means play a sound in one pad over the pads of your controller, or one pad/soundslot in maschine per pad on your controller.
you can then work with different midi channels to switch pads or groups you want to control, it then depends on your midi controller how to do it,
with some controllers you can easily change midi channels from hardware for every preset - others save midi channels per pres

    groups devided by channel.jpg

for example this would be the first group, the second would have the same settings only midi ch set to 2 and so on,
in my example root note is lets say c1 so your pad controller first pad must be set to c1;c#1;d1 and so on
and like i said if you change the midi channel on your pad controller you would then play group 2
