    Hello,

I got my TB-03 connected to Native Instruments Maschine. It’s up and running.

How do I control the TB-03 from Maschine? Now Maschine just triggers the TB-03 and starts running. I would like to put in notes in Maschine, so I can create melodies on the screen and not in the step sequencer. Is that possible?

    Thanks!

You would need to make sure u have the correct midi channel selected on maschine for the tb and clear the pattern on the tb...so then u have an empty pattern and should then be able to use the maschine pads to trigger the tb sounds

Great, it's working : ) Thank you so much! Is there a way to add 'slides' and 'accents' in my DAW?

I got several 303 plugin’s, and I love the way how they can be controlled in my DAW. But nothing really sounds as good as this TB-03, so I prefer to use that instead of a sample pack. It’s also amazing how all the TB-03 patterns get recorded into Maschine, including all automation. I never expected this TB-03 would be such a great purchase! I can sit on the sofa, jam with my TB-03, create crazy stuff and have it later all copied to Maschine. The only thing I couldn’t find in Maschine were ‘accents’ and ‘slides’…

you need to read the TB303 midi implementation manual to figure out what CC # those functions are, and then, as Maschine has no capability to use the macro knobs to send CC (sigh) you will need to..

    1. manually, with a mouse enter these into the pattern.. (fun and intuitive huh?)
    or
    2. Setup a template using the controller editor and switch between Maschine and Midi mode when you want to use knobs for these functions.

it seems that notes with velocity > 99 are accented.

have you tried overlapping the notes to get the slide?

lol i didn't mean to imply anything... i just know that several 303 emulators implement the slide that way.

Hi, picking up on this thread headline one year later and on the other side of ver. 2.6,

I have gotten a Roland TB-03 and hooked it up to Maschine, ver 2.6.9 and have installed the pre-mapped MIDI CC external gear templates that came with 2.6. Also have a Studio and a Jam. I am pursuing the 303 sound, and the VST emulations I have tried, like phoscyon and ABL didn’t make it for me. Was also attracted by getting hands on the dedicated, “real knobs”. It’s my first excursion outside the box into MIDI Land, so I am on a learning curve, but what I was ultimately hoping to get to is this:

    1. Run TB-03 MIDI and sound through USB to my computer (Mac). Check. Using Aggregate Device.
    2. Make patterns on the TB-03 and record them in my DAW (Maschine or Ableton) or send them from DAW to TB-03. Check.
    3. Send/receive automation between TB-03 and DAW, both an “initial state” and
    4. record knob movement information done on the TB-03 or
    5. record knob movement on Maschine hardware.

My trouble is really 3 and 4. Are these at all possible? 5 is handled by Maschine modulation, I get that. But when you make a 303 bassline, the note sequence is just half of the sound, right? You really want to include your set filter/env/fx values, like, say for a Massive synth line in a project, you dont want to dial the sound in from the init patch every time you run it. I may be missing something, and the automation vs modulation is also a little confusing, but:

Is it possible to have Maschine send an initial state of automation settings, filter/env etc. to the TB? I can’t get that to happen. Only when I “touch” and change a parameter in Maschine is that info send to the TB, then jumping to that setting and only for that parameter. And if I switch to another stored TB pattern on another Maschine Sound with other macro filter/fx settings, the ones currently running are not switched.

And the other way around. This may be the hardest, but I was hoping to be able to record knob twisting movements on my TB in my DAW. I can only hear the changes, not see them reflected on my TB-03 Ext macro knobs, let alone record this automation/modulation. Only the resulting sound. But isn’t it even possible to send the current state from the TB’s filter/env/fx settings in order to store and later recall it from Maschine?

Any help would be highly appreciated. Hopefully I am just missing something obvious eg. related to MIDI settings? Maybe I am spoiled and have too high expectations venturing a little outside the box, but since I am still all digital, I imagined this to work more like a “physical VST”.

    Anyone?

Well, for those travelling through here, I can say that I went on with Ableton Live and:
    http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device/3847/stupid-simple-tb-03
    https://tb-03-midi-editor.jimdo.com//#cc-m-product-9546555470

Especially the Stupid Simple TB-03 Device is fantastic and does what I was missing. I can control/record the synth both by performing on TB itself or with my Push 2, which updates dynamically. Only thing I am still struggling with is sending knob settings smoothly to the synth at startup without having to e.g. slightly move them to get their values send, but its close enough to awesomeness for me :)
