How to disable the notes cutoff in a purchased instrument ?

    Hello,

I have an instrument that I purchased (LSS strings) supposed to emulate a solo violin, so whenever I play a note it kills the note played before. I can't play more than one note at a time. Unfortunately, I need to be able to play chords or harmonies, so I need to discard this function that forbids several notes to be displayed at once. I don't know where to find it.

Can anyone tell me where this is to be found ?

    Thank you in advance.
    Best Regards.

Of course you should ask the creator/seller, but a solo violin usually is legato, so if there is a legato knob, turn that off. For certain it is not part of demo protection.

Thank you for your reply. There is no such thing in the interface of the instrument. But I guess that the function is somewhere in the programming of it, in the instrument editor, in the behaviour of groups or something like that. I guess it is someting simple but you have to know where to find it....

No disrespect but have you thought this through. You've bought a solo violin virtual instrument and wonder why it doesn't play chords.

I don't wonder why. I just need it to act differently for my musical purposes and needs like other solon violin instruments do (these in the kontakt library for example), I know that there is a technical trick to achieve that and I want to find it - thus I am asking for it. I don't really care about what this instrument is supposed to be or do. What I do care about is what I need it to do.

You will have to ask the developer. It is his or her choice not to give the option. In scripted instruments, like this, it is not possible to edit/do it yourself. That is why you get no practical answer. Only thing you can do for now is use multiple solo instances and create the harmonies like that.

As anyone who plays or listens to chamber music will tell you, solo string instruments frequently play several notes at once, and if your library doesn't allow this, it is a serious flaw, and you are right to complain about it. It crops up here too

Search for polyphonic legato in your manual. Spitfire allows this by using different velocities. Or maybe a simple sustain articulation will allow it. If no go you'll have to have 2 instances as already suggested. And you should certainly complain to the authors.

Just record the notes in the chord separately. Treat it like multiple violins in an ensemble.

Thank you all - especially Stephen23. The developer I contacted (or at least the guy from the firm that replied to my request by mail) told me that this is not possible to disable the legato mode as it is in the script - as some of you had guesses. He advised me to use a sustain pedal (CC 64). Which I will do. Unfortunately, I don"t own such a thing in hardware so I will have to program it and, as I told the guy, I wanted to be able to PLAY if on my keyboard during the composition process, not to have to program it afterwards by clicking in the MIDI file. But I will do with that.

For those who are curious, the instrument is LSS Strings by Aria Sounds. Which I find quite beautifl and well achiebed - except this problem (that is not a minor one to me). : https://ariasounds.com/lss-solo-strings.html

What if you write with the violin patch from kontakt library and afterwards edit it to 2 midi channels (or more if you need 3 notes) for LSS.
