How to find modified groups in a project file?

So I have a sandbox project file that I use to just mess around and look for sounds.

I found a couple synth and noise sounds I liked, and made a few patterns with them.

    I saved the project.

On a later day, I opened the project and accidentally loaded a factory group to that group slot (Group A).

I now can't find the previous group and its patterns.

How can I find the patterns I made within this project file? Thanks so much for any help. I would hate to see that it's gone forever even though I saved the project...

Reload the saved project? Unless you saved over it... Then I don't think there's anything anyone can do.

At the time, you could have pressed undo too to revert back to before you loaded the new group.

Yeah, I saved it after I loaded the groups. Ah well, at least now I know that loading groups can be destructive.

loading groups is only destructive if you save it afterwards - had you have used the undo function or not saved the project after inserting the new groups you would have been fine.

Exactly. Well, in a way loading the groups isn't destructive at all, as you can undo. But saving and then closing is obviously going to be destructive! As it is in pretty much every program I use (if not actually all).

Did you expect Maschine just to save eveything you ever did anyway? It just does what you tell it to do, I'm afraid. And I sympathise with losing work but it's just one of those things.

I actually did think it would save because if say you alter the 70's Abbey Road Tight kit to have all bongos. Change to a different group, and load its patterns. Then load the AR kit again, and it all comes back. I thought this info was written to the .mprj file i.e. this wouldn't be the case in other projects, but it would be in the one I saved it.

But, turns out it doesn't work like that.

Sorry, what happens? You load, for example, an Abbey Road kit, change all the samples to bongos, then switch to a new Group, load the same Abbey Road kit again there and then what? It loads the same Abbey Road kit, doesn't it? Not the modified kit with bongos? Unless you've saved the modified kit (with bongos) over the original kit.

I think I might be misunderstanding what you're saying though...
