Let's hope this gets fixed soon

    Wow!

If this feature could be rectified it would make me so happy !

This has been a problem for so many years with tractor.

I have stalled moving over to traktor mainly for this reason !

I want to be able to use time coded CDs in my cdj's and know all my track have been beat gridded correctly.

Here's Hoping the fix comes soon

    Regards

So im at work in a DJ shop trying to help a client with the above issues.....and now myself as i took the leap and upgraded to Traktor scratch 2........never before has the "if it aint broken dont fix it." TSP1 was great but decided to take benefit of the new upgrade. Straight after the upgrade i played a few tracks, the fluttering of BPM on vinyl was crazy, it also rewrote all my BPMs wrong, like very weird number like 127.489 and so on.

How come it has re analyzed it all wrong? I also noticed the tunes in my Itunes library where different from the bpm's in my Track collection folder. Itunes had them right, and the exact same tune in Itunes folder was correct or had not changed. Some BPM where very wrong, like not even close!

I have done the steady BPM prefs but this doesnt fix the issue of Traktor writing the wrong BPM's on all my newly added tunes. Should i just go back to my old version and leave it at that?

2 pictures to show you what i mean....one is Itunes (BPM correct), one is from Track collection

I hope there will be fix for this......

maybe the Itunes tagged them as a whole number bpm
Traktor actually gets bpms right when gridded properly. so if those tracks have been gridded or analized by traktor and work the traktor ones are right.

Ive had a chat to the NI people and they said that if you havent locked your BPMs prior to updating Traktor 2 it will stuff up your BPMs and thats it......

So basically you would have to go through every track and hit the "lock" icon. Yes you heard me, every track prior to updating. Im going back to previous version of Traktor. Disappointing but hopeful they will rectify this at some point.

    Long live yellow waveforms!

    Peace

You can select all tracks and then lock them all at once. You don't have to do them one at a time.

Ok cool, thanks for the tip. Still have to revert back to my old version though and analyze the tracks and then lock all the BMPs........

A button can be mapped to add beat grid markers and there is an option in settings for beat grids to NOT use hotcue spots... Making it a lot easier than juggling cues with beat mapping or setting your hot cues before beat grids.

Good post Danny. MUCH easier to fix them in Ableton and then bring them back into Traktor

That video is probably the most complete and best I have ever seen.
Altoug I must agree on many comments that the warping in Ableton Live does, in my opinion, some serious damage to the sound quality of a track.

and must say that his metronome sync can be much better set :)

This would be fantastic and could not come too soon. I was rather dismayed when I realized that this technique (OP post) could not be edited manually for presicion.

I hope that a new feature like this will indeed give the power to alter grid markers aside from 'global' changes to the entire track. There is really lots of uses for this features aside from just DJ'ing.

Also, it would be cool to have a more accurate 1st-downbeat detection, if possible automatically.

BPM detection could be improved also, even though I think it sounds great, when you inspect tracks, most tracks are not synced up on the beats, they are sync'd mid-beat almost all the time. I think we should have the technology to get that done by now.

Idd, almost every tracks need fine tuning, mostly to te left.
Which also brings up the problem that often you can not go to the left because there is nothing before the first beat, so u need to add a second beatmarker on the 2nd beat.

I don't use MP3's but I would suspect that the file type is irrelevant for the automatic beatgridding.

Serato does variables tempos. I will like to know it it works fine.

But for a Traktor implement there is some questions:
With an usteady track in slave (and sync), no problem, Traktor follow the master.
When a unsteady track is the master, would Traktor play it steady or unsteady?
How Traktor can know when a track has an unsteady tempos (with small variations in tempos) so it can be played "straight" or a track with an artistic change of Bpm (in this case you must let the tempo change, except in "slave" mode).
The solution is surely to play unsteady track s without modifications when the are master.
And Traktor must calculate a soft curve of the tempo variations of the track to have a soft tempo sync.
Something really accurate needs lot of work for sure, but NI team is great (maybe the better)

This sounds similar to the original skill of actually DJ'ing and mixing the track how it used to be done. Why don't you just do the same thing live, but use nudge buttons?
