    Are you having a laugh?
Obviously I am not a software engineer but rerecording tracks?
Why cant there just be different gridmarkers - like you can do in ableton live.
this seriously sucks as unfortunately I have a huge collection of awesome tracks which were recorded using unstable turntables... .

Great idea but it will take you less time to simply learn to beat-match! Use the nudge buttons if you must. It's the same process as making this recording - which is very clever, but again way too much work.

    Thanks for suggesting it though!;)

you either warp or play the song as is and ride the pitch.

100% agree - we all love a phat steady beat but the funk can be stripped away when you start messing with the human feel - I will more often than not say 'let the music be'...i like the challenge of beat mixing with live drummers anyway :) (not all the time, admittedly its labour intensive)

Do you mean we you think we should:
    1) stop playing older tracks and only use digital downloads that beatgrid perfectly (I have some 4x4 techno tracks from BeatPort from 2014 that need several grid markers manually added to even sync the BPM correctly)
    2) stop using Traktor in favor of another software that has a more advanced beatgridding system,
    3) buy another software program just to do beatgridding and use it alongside Traktor,
    4) collectively agree to ignore those who assert the need for this feature because there are enough others who don't feel it affects them?
    and/or
    5) manually beatmatch when needed (my preferred solution, but not possible at this level without jogwheels and pitch faders)

This isn't just sarcasm. The only logical conclusions I can draw from the silence on this issue are listed above, and none of them (expect maybe #5) are really acceptable when you say them out loud. It makes no sense for NI to leave this unaddressed while absolutely perfect beatgrids are a prerequisite for play tracks on their newest premium controller. So I can't just move on.

I haven't used the S8 but I'm pretty sure you can adjust manualy just like you can with the Kontrol X1....
It's not because there is no jogwheel you can not adjust...

To be fair, I haven't used the S8 nor the X1 (for a whole set anyway), so I can't comment definitively. However I really don't think I'd prefer DJing one of my regular sets using that kind of device, as opposed to the S4.

Thinking about it more, I think a more accurate way to express my point #1 would be: Mix thinking in terms of parts of tracks, loops, and other component segments that you can chop out and beatgrid by brute force if necessary since each piece is short. So you beatgrid the sections you want to mix and put them in slots in the remix decks.
Of course the problem is that the prep time to do all of that is crazy when you mainly want to play mostly whole tracks that you aren't producing or re-editing.
Just like I prefer a camera that has the option to use manual focus and exposure control - if you take those away the auto has got to be spot on perfect or you'll never get as good pictures. Using this analogy, Traktor with no pitch faders needs an upgraded autofocus system with different settings for different scenes.

i do think flexible beat grids would be great but until n.i. decides to implement them , talking alot about it won't help .

BPM halved/changed 3 times already for me at live gig. Never seen this happening using Pioneer CDJ's. Very dissapointed.

I know this is an old thread, but... I'm seriously considering buying Ableton Live mainly for 1) warping tracks that don't have steady BPMs, and 2) for making my own DJ edits of tracks. Everyone advises me to avoid the Intro/Lite version as it is too limited (and doesn't have the advanced warp function used in the video). On the other hand, the Standard version seems like overkill (and is not cheap). So...

can anyone tell me if there is an alternative to Ableton Live that features as powerful a warping engine? Or should I just bite the bullet, save up and get Ableton and hopefully eventually lean enough of its features to justify the purchase?

Fortunately, I've got Ableton to do this. It'll be MUCH more accurate, AND I can choose the 'Beats' warp mode, which has better sound quality when close to the song's original tempo.

The Traktor Key Lock unction, as well as Ableton, use Elastique's time stretching software.
Traktor's Key Lock function uses the same algorithm as Ableton's 'Complex Pro' mode. In both, the sound quality is significantly degraded... muddy, and flat.
Ableton's 'Beats' Warping Mode, at the clip's original tempo does NOTHING to the sound quality. I've tested this by warping a song in Beats Mode (not changing it's tempo), exporting it, and comparing against the same track with phase inverted. There was no sound to be heard, and nothing on the spectrogram.

All this said, I know it's possible for Native Instruments to implement a more flexible beat grid to Traktor Pro... less than Ableton has done... because Traktor Pro would still only use one Key Lock algorithm.

Ableton Link seems to the new standard for integrating different DJ software and now that it's been added to Traktor I'm sure my next purchase will be Ableton Live.
On the other topic, I also find Traktor's Keylock function to produce dull, flat sound. I was wondering if it was something about my system. I hope they can introduce a better Keylock algorithm and hopefully Key Sync in the future.

    Hello,
i need a help with my software. I use traktor scratch pro 2 with time code
vinyl mk2 and interface audio 8. I have everything connected correctly but
BPM is a problm, he is very accelerated. How correct?
