    Hello,
As a max/msp and Reaktor user I can tell you that the term "GLITCH"
when used with respect to these two programs is an apples and oranges affair.

max/msp uses csound which is c++ code essentially it is the raw data that would create an app. like reaktor.

What willits is doing really is more complicated than it sound. If I understand correctly from an interview I saw he has created a looper pedal of sorts. He plays guitar and thats it. He uses a Midi footpedal that runs int max/msp and has a bank of 6 loops that correlate to the frequencies of his six string and the length of is fretboard is different points in his loops(at this point I guess they are more like samples) so he can "play" the samples on his guitar hitting different points within the samples depending on what note he plays "the frequency gets converted
into midi data I guess?) and he can play over it live, he also uses another midi controller(looked to be a uc33e) for mixing puposes and other functions I Ran out of room, CRAZY STUFF no programming just live manpipulation of sound, space, and time there is a link some where i will post it if i find it check out nnnnnnn.org? he is using max/msp in the same way sort of

As people say....there are many ways to get Reaktor to" glitch". for cliched glitch music , Shred is fantastic , as is the "stutterer" module from an ensemble I can't recall...anyone help?

Based on the mp3 you posted, I'd suggest you check out Vierring in the R4 standard library. I also have my own version that is (IMNSHO) easier to use and saves patterns with snapshots (at least it did in R4, it might be buggy in R5).

yeah, I have that module as well - i think it's actually called "Stuttererer", hehe. Can't for the life of me remember where I got it from - I just grabbed it right away and used it elsewhere.

Oh, and for what it's worth, FastFX does excelllent rhythmic glitching as well.

i agree - if anyone likes the FX in Scenario, Fast FX is like that times 100. very fun for throwing beatloops in, i bet putting it after the Keymasher thing CList is doing would be sweet - hmm, lets find out!

Anyone knows how Christoffer makes those clicks?

Are you (Nord77) saying they come from the guitar being chopped up? Are the clicks just a very short (filtered?) guitar sound? Sounds more like additional samples and not a guitar sound.

Sowari speaks of kick, snare, and hi-hat sounds, though an ADSR envelope shaper. But putting a drum loop through a gate like kittengate I don't get such fine soft clicks.

Can you make such fine clicks on a synth?

    Advise much appreciated!

i haven't tried it myself, but i was thinking of individual drum sounds going through an envelope shaper, not a whole loop. a filter (either before or after the ADSR) would also help. start with all settings of the ADSR on 0, then increase the decay until you get something that sounds nice for you.

btw, there are a number of very interesting Martin Brinkmann ensembles (in the User Library) that explore clicks, the come under the heading of "Clix" if you put Clix into the UL search engine, you will come up with about 14 of these ensembles.

Did you try the version of Vierring I posted as a link?

Not yet, will soon, thanks for answering.

I am trying brinkmans Clix5 now and its quite fine but I still think it's far from those delicious clicks that a lot of artists like this guy willits, and xela +other Type artists, Benge, Jan Jelinek/Farben Opto etc. make.

Chris you also use analog synths don't you? I think I once visited you site and you said you built them yourself... Is it not better to make clicks on an analog synth because of the better sound(imo)? I haven't tried yet because I haven't got one :-(

Or maybe they use their own recorded sounds. So do I but I think it's hard to make them sound that smooth, crispy and electronic.
