How to install Reaktor on Mac OS X 10.7

Hi all,

I may be missing something in my install procedure - although this is the problem I am experiencing:

a) Tried to install Reaktor 5 from the original install disk. I CANNOT as the install file is PPC, and cannot run on Lion ie there is no Rosetta on Lion.

b) Tried to install Reaktor from the 5.6.1 update - I cannot install, as it is looking for a previous update/ version already installed on my machine. Look at (a).

How the HELL am I to install Reaktor in 10.7. Any pointers on how to get this installed?

i have the same problem...i've contacted the tech support 10 days ago and still i haven't received any answer...

 

a.cla.dio - have you heard back from support regarding this slight installation problem? I emailed two weeks ago and still not a peep.

I am due to upgrade my Computer (Mac)...and going to be installing Reaktor from the original disk on the new mac. Does this mean at present i wont be able to do it?

If you plan on doing a clean install of Mac OS X 10.7.xx (no upgrade from 10.6.xx) - then you will run into a spot of trouble as 10.7 does not have Rosetta (No PPC support) and Reaktor from the original disk is a PPC executable.

In short - No.

 

there is a workaround:

download the Reaktor Player version, then register it as a full version of Reaktor using the Service Centre - you can download the Service Centre from the NI Website.

once you have a registered version of Reaktor, download the 5.6.1 update. the update includes the Library because it has itself been updated.

its so annoying to spend £££'s on audio hardware/software only to have to use some dodgy tactics to get it to work.

 

the other way is of course to wait for a long time for tech support to send you a download link for a full install of Reaktor 5.6.1

in some ways, you can't expect NI to create an Installer that worked with Mac PPCs back in 2005 Mac OS 10.4.11 and still expect it to work in 2011 with Mac OS 10.7?

but then it should be easier to get a quick reply for a query about a downloadable installer. to be honest, this is an issue that is not just with Reaktor.

anyway, it is great that you are still making fantastic music with Reaktor and will soon be up-to-date with your Mac and Reaktor

true...apple have probably got rid of ppc support a bit too soon.

and thanks, i'm really looking forward to the new features in reaktor, feel like i've missed out on loads.

 

the workaround mentioned here DOES NOT WORK. Don't waste your time downloading a huge .dmg file. Lion won't be able to install it.

It worked for me...

as Sowari suggested...get the Reaktor player, get the service centre, then put your serial number in for your full version...what you will then have is Reaktor without the library...then download the latest update to reaktor (which includes the library). And you'll be back in the game ;-)
