    Hi there,

this is for those having trouble adding the free Kontakt Factory Selection library to Kontakt or the Kontakt player.

Yesterday I ran into a strange problem: I got the Kontakt player along with the free Kontakt Factory Selection 1.2. I'm on a Mac, so I've chosen the Mac downloads.

The player installed without a hitch, but adding the factory selection library didn't work. The player kept telling me "no library found".

Ok... I guess, the Mac download of the factory selection is somewhat "broken".

If you choose the PC download, you get the ISO file and an additional EXE file. I don't have a Windows-PC, so I can only guess, that the accompanied EXE file is some sort of ISO mounter. And the ISO file contains the very library. Within the ISO there are two folders and another EXE file. The folders contain the library, but not in a directly usable way. It appearently needs to be "installed" in some way. Hence the EXE file within the ISO.

I might think, that for Windows users this is not a problem.

But Mac users (and maybe folks who have trouble running this "installer") do have a problem. BTW: The Mac download gets you the very same ISO file...

But well, after some fiddling around, I got it. It's actually pretty simple:

    - Mount the ISO file.
    - Go to "KONTAKT FACTORY SELECTION LIBR" > "CONTENTS"
    - There you find a big file named "ARCHIVEPAX.GZ"
    - It's a double compressed archive (GZ and then "tar" I think). In there is a folder named "Kontakt Factory Selection Library". That's the very library. On my Mac I used the "Unarchiver" for extracting.
    - Extract it to a location of your choice.
    - Run the Kontakt player, klick on "Add Library" (on the top left) and point it to the just extracted folder and you're set.

    Maybe that helps ;)

    Cheers,
    John

PS: I posted this in another thread already. But since the thread title is not that "self explanatory" by itself, some having trouble with that library might not find it. So I posted it in this thread again.

You can also rename the downloaded file from "Kontakt_Factory_Selection_120.iso" to "Kontakt_Factory_Selection.dmg", a Mac installer file will be shown when the .dmg file is opened.
