I have a brand new Kontrol A49, but I can't make the Transport buttons work in Cubase.
Looking in Studio Setup -> Remote Devices -> Generic Remote I've set both in and out to Komplete Kontrol A49 Midi. A whole list of controllers is shown, but no Transport stuff.
NI says it should be automatic. I can only find video's with the Kontrol S-series and an older Cubase version which still has Devices in the menu. There it seems to go smoothly but I must be doing something very wrong. Help would be appreciated.

As far as I know it's not integrated yet but it will be soon but but maybe someone from native can confirm. I will also buy my A49 tomorrow if anything goes right and I'm also a cubase user.

Yeah, on the Steinberg forum I was reminded of this quote:

KOMPLETE KONTROL keyboards work with all DAWs that support VST/AU/AAX, with additional features enabled in Logic Pro X and GarageBand at launch.
Ableton Live, Cubase, and Nuendo integration coming soon after initial release. Using an integrated DAW will allow you to play/pause, record, set tempo, adjust levels, quantize notes, adjust loop braces, undo/redo, and more – all from your keyboard.

    Thanks for your reply.

Still, I've done some experimenting and I have some doubts remaining:
I've made a few attempts to setup Transport manually in Studio Setup, but it turns out none of the buttons are registering while learning, so I can't finish the setup. The turning knobs do register. Also (and I should have mentioned this earlier), none of the buttons light up (except for the shift button).
When I use Komplete Kontrol the top 3 buttons do light up (Shift, Scale and ARP), but not the 3 rows underneath..
So now I'm wondering whether I've received a malfunctioning device. Or is it just that the Kontrol doesn't communicate with Cubase as long as there is no integration update? How I do I determine this? If I have to wait for the update to find out if it works I might not be able to return the device.

Uwe, I'm curious about your experiences!

If everything goes right I can tell you later cause today I want to by my A49. But maybe meanwhile someone else can help cause I'm also interested how it works.

The A series transport buttons will be the same as the S series in how they function. They are "high level" controls that communicate directly with the script/daw and do not xmit MIDI. This is part of the current stream of complaints with the MK2 keyboard because the previous MK1 did xmit using the MCU protocol so any DAW that supported MCU (which is pretty much all of them) could use transport. Now, the DAW has to support OSC I believe which not many do and the older method of MCU was removed. So basically, if your DAW is not officially supported, you cannot get transport working (easily)

Well, I wonder.. When I turn a knob in Learn mode I see the midi address change, but nothing changes when I push a button. So no midi, I'd say...

Yes only the 8 encoders work and sending midi cc absolute so in cubase after learning you have to disable the R at the end of the row and enable pickup mode.

But on display it says preset 1 and 1 to 4 pages but on all 4 pages the pots are set all from cc 14 to cc 21 I thought we at least could edit this in kontrol software but nothing - I think it will need time. And in my case I only use it with maschine so I am really happy with the keyboard, I like the keys, they feel really good and also the rest - so far.
For me a good friend for my maschine studio.

Have you run the latest firmware updater and KK updates? If you do that, then press shift while in midi mode, the transport buttons light up and can be mapped to CC as here in Studio One v3:

Found out by experimenting after realising the instructions for Ableton Live setup are different from those for Series 2 keyboards in that they rely on a DAW midi driver (like the older keyboards) not OSC.

CC's I've identified so far are:

    Play - 16
    Restart - 17 (shift)
    REC - 18
    Count-in - 19 (shift)
    Stop - 20
    Loop - 22
    METRO - 23
    Undo - 32
    Redo - 33 (shift)
    Quantize - 35 (shift)
    M - 67
    S - 68
    Knobs - 80-87

I don't have Cubase to try I'm afraid. However I can't see Studio One (3.5) and Live (10.05) being that different - in both of them I've found this.

You have to be using the DAW driver - not the keyboard one. And this is not Mackie or anything, just basic CC.

    Still it's promising.

Yes I also tried the simple generic option and get only the 8 encoders working - but I don't need it (yet) I use it with maschine and that's fine for me.
