    Hi !

Sorry if this is in the wrong category, this seemed like the right one :)

I have some issues with Maschine 2 and Machine Mikro, I have a really hard time setting it up (first time with the software/hardware).

I tried to map the 16 pads to trigger different drum parts, I am in pad mode so I have one root note for each pad and the same Kontakt 5 instrument loaded on every sound.
The problem is the sounds don't interact : for example, I can't close my open hi-hat, the two sounds play simultaneously but one doesn't have effect on the other. And I can't solve the problem when entering Keyboard mode since it plays 16 notes from a root note.

Is there something I missed ? Are the notes in Keyboard mode customizable so I can select notes, and therefore drum parts ? Or is there a way to make sounds interact like the 16 pads are one big instrument and not 16 instruments working at the same time ? Do you have drum kits templates or instructions/advices to use Maschine as a finger drumming set ?

    Thanks in advance,
    Sincerely,

    Charles

The choke group stuff in Maschine doesn't work if the sound/pad is using an vst instrument like kontakt. This feature is only for samples or the built in drum synthesis.

One way is to load up a single instance of kontakt with your drums and set the pad to keyboard mode. Then you can play the drum kit chromatically on your pads and any choke groups in the kontakt preset you're using will work. To get the pads to respond to the sounds you want, say kick on pad3, snare on 7, you need to remap the samples inside of kontakt.

    Hi larserik !
Thanks for the quick answer, I now know that keyboard mode is the way to do it !

About remapping the samples, do you have instructions or else ? Is it something to change in Kontakt or in the instrument that's inside Kontakt ? Is it possible with every drum sound ?

    Hello everyone !

So I figured out how to bring down the root note to C1 in Keyboard mode. That's better but there still are notes I don't need and sounds I need that I can't put on the 16 Pads. How can I decide which note each pad will trigger ? (Does it involve Midi CC ?)

    Thanks in advance !

You can not send send random midi notes on keyboard mode, but you can in pad mode.
Here how it is: Go to pad mode.
Open Kontakt in 1st pad, it will trigger C3 only.
You can change the note octave -/+ and Sound>Output>midi>transpoze (so it triggers not only C1-C2.. but all other notes.)
When you decide which drum part you want to trigger from 1st pad, go to Pad 2.
On pad 2: Sound > Output > Midi > Dest will be "s1 - kontakt patch name".
Channel: 1 (by default this channel wil be 2, 3, 4.. on pad 2, 3, 4.. respectively, which works very well on Kontakt multis. But in your case you shuld change all pads to channel 1.)
Then pad 2 will trigger Kontakt on C3, change Transpoze (next to dest.) and/or Octave Up/down to find which note you want it to send kontakt. Do the same with other pads.
    Tip:
Click the pin button on the top right side of the kontakt, so when you hit pad 2 you'll still see kontakt gui.

Edit (correction for the 1st pad): You change notes by Pad mode>base key not transpoze.
