In Maschine 1.X I could simply edit the tags of any sample and add my own sub-category called 'favorite' - when I attempt this in 2.0 it says "read only item" at the bottom for the factory content.

Is there a new better way to do this or is this functionality simply gone?

Would also love to know this. Came here for the same reason. Wouldn't want to have to copy my favorites to a personal folder and access them from there.

Tag editing on Factory content is locked out. You can save them so the show under user.

And I thought the browser in 2.0 was supposed to be an improvement on the 1.8 browser!

@b-righteous I think your suggestion is not such a great solution since it will make duplicated of the same stuff and clogs up your harddrive. Please NI open up the library or add one user editable field to be able to mark as favorite.

Favourites overriding the taggingsystem would be a neat addition.. Chew on that one NI :D

@NI: Tagging or favouriting of libraries is urgent!

It makes no sense for users to memorize hundreds of senseless names. What use is a categorized/tagging search if you can't use it?

All NI products have historically the same issue - managing pads, sounds, samples - what ever you want to call it. Many other companies have an acceptable/good solution to put the user in the driver seat do manage their sounds - most simple feature is tagging for favorites.

After NI includes plug-ins in Maschine, the issue went away (partially). The individual instruments still don't offer anything, but within Maschine tagging was possible >>>>> First step in the right direction

Now with Ver 2 >>>> huge step backwards

But what is NI trying to protect? A user messing up his own library??? So be it.

NI: This must be fixed!!! I am not cluttering up my hard drive nor do I want to stare at duplicates in Maschine >>>> YOU CAN DO BETTER

I couldn't agree more, I should be able to do whatever I please with my library. This isn't a 1990's synthesizer with ROM banks.

I originally posted this in a different thread about the 2.0 browser in general, but it may have been missed (or ignored because it's not perfect). Basically, there is a workaround for tagging factory content and for browsing all (NI and user) content together...

One important additional piece of information I have since found is that you do not need to duplicate the entire Maschine 2.0 library, just all folders except the samples, so it should only cost a few hundred MB of disk space instead of the ~8GB with the samples (as the samples are referenced in he original factory library location anyway). If, however, you want to tag individual factory samples too, you may need to duplicate them, but I have not yet tried that and only use tagging on groups, sounds, instruments, and effects.

Please restore the ability to better manage all content through tag editing. A lot of 1.x users have organized content with customized tags. That historical data is now lost.

Minimally, and/or as an interim fix, please enable a user Favorites tag. Thank you!

Yeah I wish the star system was available for a lot of NI products.

This is utterly f*cking ridiculous. How the f*ck am I supposed to find ANYTHING? I have K9 and pretty much all expansions, this is REALLY pissing me off.

Agreed. A simple "favorite" tag for the NI preset content would be enough. It's annoying as hell to start duplicating everything.

    +1! Come on NI!
We shouldn't accept only a Favorite / star system as this solution would still not be the best.

I can't really think of ANY reason to have the factory libraries locked up, not allowing user custom tagging.
If NI is afraid their user mess up their factory libraries, then a VERY simple solution would be to have two separate tags databases (or whatever way they are stored): the factory one (read only) and a User's one (open for modifications). That is so simple, development wise!!

Wait what! I just switched from Geist and I can't believe that this essential function is not present. I mean, you create your unique sound by saving sounds that match your preferences.

I guess I will copy the sample to a folder called Favorites for now.
