How to name a snapshot Bank in 6.0.3

this is just ridiculous (that we need to use a hex editor to do something so basic and simple, in case it was unclear what was being called ridiculous).

 

I really hope this is just a bug and we will get this functionality back, and not a sign that NI plan to ditch snapshots in favour of the much less useful and very annoying presets.

 

NI loves to maintain backwards compatibility, so i doubt they would do that.

it makes good sense to have them integrated, but i couldn't be less interested in presets than i currently am.

 

I think this is a bug - according to the manual "Diving deeper" - Page 42. After that I would have to change as usual, the bank name by double-clicking.
That it does not - I just hope that as soon a fix is coming.

Also I can not choose again a once applied User Snapshot - here are some errors.

Attention: Using a hex editor to change 'Bank 1' etcpp.
6 characters are allowed only.
Otherwise the ssf-bank isn't loadable.

I've now a support ticket open so that something happened here - you should perhaps do well. I do not know if here NI someone purely looks?

 

Jim, try it with a full-filled bank. My testload with longer names than 6 characters on an existing filled bank result in an empty one.

 

That's referring to preset banks, page 51 however does refer to being able to rename snapshot banks

 

Without HexEditor:
Create in R5 an empty bank with desired name. Load in R6.03. Fix the name while saving empty bank. Now store your snapshots in a named bank.
Without saving the empty bank R6.03 jump back to 'Bank 1' storing the first snapshot.

 

re-naming banks is accessible via enter key!

-select bank
-press enter key
-enter bank name
-press enter key again

pretty simple, isn’t it?!

Is there any trick to get "recall default values" option in snapshot edit menu too? When I last checked the manual that part wasn't update.

rename a bank = enter
C'mon seriously, this is pretty stupid isn't it?!
And i still don't know how to load the defaults.
I really appreciate the new features of this update but the changes for the snapshots are just annoying.

 

Yes, this is not good. It is inconsistent and not what user expects. NI, make it consistent by having double-click to rename a bank.

 

.. and no one descripe it in the manual!!??!! The bank name.

 

In the same manner you can change the snapshot name.
