    Hi folks.
This is my first post here and I am hoping some kind folk might be able to assist me.
I am enjoying Aerobic in Reaktor 5 and I am hoping I can record it's sequencers output to a midi track in Cubase 4.

To expand: I want to develop drum patterns in the aerobic sequencer to bang out the essence of a groove track, but once that is achieved, I want to record the sequencer's midi output top a midi track in Cubase so that I can do detailed editing to the patterns...y'know add a kick here, remove a snare there, replace a hat sound down below.

I have thus far failed to achieve this. I have tried various things including:
    >fiddling with the midi IN and OUT routings on ALL the instruments in the ensemble
(starting with the seq, then the master instrument and then,
    out of desperation,the synth)
    >I have tried opening Reaktor as both a VSTi and a VST effect.
    >I have tried assigning Reaktor as the midi input for a midi track in Cubase.

Can anyone give me the scoop? Am I doing something silly?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist.

    Best
    Nolan

    Welcome =)

There's no MIDI output to the outside in Aerobic; you'll have to hack the ensemble and put one in.

Is there an option to save/export midi-files from any sequencer in Reaktor?(import is in the options)

The thing with ew's solution and the save/export, is: Drive Aerobic then with the DAW sequencer. (i poersonally don't look for that..but midifiles would be nice)

or maybe record it in audio >put the sample in the beatslicer> play additional notes/make breaks or loops and replace parts in audio...pull out the scissors. Or use a sampler to play the parts.
(maybe record the single aerobic tracks and then the hi-hats are alone on one track...and better editable)

*Cubase has an auto-crossfade option (and also zero-point finder), to merge audio events if clicks might appear.

EW and Klinke, thank you both for the feedback.

EW: The answer you have given me is not what I was hoping to hear but at least I know the truth so I won't waste any more time swearing at my computer.
I don't yet modify instruments and I don't really have the time to learn how to (although I'd be happy to follow a specific and comprehensive instruction set or tutorial if anyone can point me in the right direction).

Klinke: I hear you and would definitely use the methods you describe. I suppose I am being greedy in that I was hoping to capture all the midi events (notes, velocity and CC's) so that I could edit them and then finally disable the aerobic sequencer and rather end off by feeding the drum synth from a midi track and also, so that I could easily replace a drum sound at mixdown time, eg: make the grooves in aerobic and then later replace the kick with a kick sample loaded into battery or whatever....
But like I said, I am being greedy. I'll probably get results faster using your approach rather then editing midi for all of eternity.

    Try the following:

put Aerobic on a track of your daw

go into its structure, dive 1 level inside

    mute the instrument "sequencer"

on instrument "synthesizer", hook up MidiIn Sel.NoteGate modules instead of the present connection to >> ports

make sure they all have a different MIDI note triggering them

go now into the MIDI track of your DAW, put a melody that uses the same MIDI notes

voila: you are playing Aerobic from your DAW

I don't know, I tried this sort of thing and couldn't get it to work. But a listmember told us to look at the bottom right of the ensemble, in the master section, to turn Aerobic into a drum synth without the sequencer. And that works, there is actually an option in the ensemble to turn off the sequencer and receive midi notes instead.

The spiral ensemble exports midi, so this idea of exporting sequencer settings as midi is a good idea to try, I hadn't thought of that.

Its just as quick to click all of the drum hits into the piano roll, and you can set the CC controls to modulate whatever.

I mean, its double work to set up the sequencer inside aerobic and then export it to midi, when you can click into the piano roll in the first place.

I wonder if one could bounce an aerobic track to audio and then add a drum trigger to the track, and trigger midi back into aerobic that way. I think that would work. But its extra work when its probably easier to just do it from scratch.
