How to record my live sets?

    Hi there,

I have recently switched my live DJing platform from CDJ's to Traktor Pro with the X1. I am only using the Audio 2 as my interface at the moment just for sake of funds.

I wondered using the external mixer setup how can I record my sets when I am playing live in a club?

Will I need to purchase a portable recorder and run it out of the record RCA output on the clubs mixer? Or is there a way to route it through my own Mac whilst I play?

    Many thanks
    BillNick

From memory I've seen related posts on this....have you searched the forum thoroughly?

Audio Hijack Pro and Soundflower could be some options for you to look into.

If you Setup Traktor for internal mixing, you can record your live mix "inside" of your computer..

Are you using Traktor Pro/Scratch/LE ?

With an external mixer, there is no way for Traktor to know what the faders are doing, so internal mixing won't work.

You'll need to run an output from your mixer into a sound input of your Mac, I have no idea if the headphone/mic socket on Macbooks will work for this though.
Traktor probably won't be able to record from a separate sound card while using the Audio 2 for output but you could record the input using a separate program.

I used to use this setup right here, running a Y cable from the record out on my mixer to the mic input on my laptop. Can also use an output from your receiver (tape out works fine). But like you said, you need to use a separate audio recording program. I personally use Goldwave, but there's plenty others out there. Just gotta set your rec gain levels, but after that it's easy.

What I noticed tho is I'd pick up interference sometimes, but that may not happen for everyone. Now I record on a 2nd computer using the same process, and have no such issues.
