    Hi guys

I'm an old skool DJ from the early 90's and I want to record a mix via my Z2 and Traktor Scratch using real vinyl and not Traktor timecode vinyl.

Despite scouring numerous topics on the internet, I can't get the metres in the recording section to register that they're recording anything despite sound coming through my speakers.

Can someone be so kind to post an idiot proof guide on what I am doing wrong and what I need to do in settings on Traktor Scratch and what I need to do on my Z2 to enable me to record a classic British hip hop mix?

I'm using a Z2, two Numark TT500 turntables and running Mac OS X El Capitan.

I've wasted an hour this afternoon trying to get this to work and I've lost the patience to persevere anymore today! Thanks!!

Set your input to a "Live Input" SHIFT+Traktor button for the respective deck. This will also allow you to apply effects to real records the way you would in Traktor to mp3s.

I had the same problem. I did it this way:

    Download and install Audacity (free)
Set the sound input device as the same one set up in Traktor...example:Realteck audio or Windows /Mac audio device.

Turn off the mic level in audacity to avoid recording outside noises.

Audacity will now record any sound coming from the computer/laptop.

export audio (recorded set once finished) as any file type you like.

I do this as its simple, quick and easy. Sound quality is fine and is perfect for uploading online. Hope it helps :)

    Hi
I have read numerous articles about how to record digital and analogue signals using Traktor Z2 but without understanding the best option. The principle issue appears to be that Mac Book Pro 2013 does not have an assignable line in for recording, and the Traktor Z2 is not set up to record analogue signals. Therefore, I have tried the following:-

    1. Recording via Traktor - Tried this recent Community Forum advice of using the Live mode as per previous advice. It records but you cannot isolate the other deck for listening it just plays over the track and can't be cued.

    2. Other recording software - I have tried using Audacity which worked fine when I had an external NI Traktor soundcard and an analogue mixer. But there with no line in on the mac book pro (or switch from headphone) so all recordings pick up ambient noise in the room and no way of turning down the mic on audacity.

    3. use an external USB interface - I have a Midiman Midisport, however with the the Z1 this would require din male lead to 1/4" jacks to deliver through the booth? (Not sure if the Aux channel is in / or out? I could use Reloop iPhono 2 USB Phono / Line Recording Interface as a alternative

Ideally I would like to record sets using both traktor scratch timecided vinyl mixed up with my 12" vinyl collection. Can you please advise me on the best way to achieve this?

    Thanks
    Phil
