I have gotten great help here on various issues and I appreciate the input. I asked previously about how to sample from a track in Cubase and I learned to use the Maschine FX insert. What I want to do now is record the audioo utput from Maschine to a track in Cubase. I want to record in real time as the song goes along. I can't see a way to do this. I'm trying to trigger vocal samples at various points . I don't want to record midi in Maschine as its confusing to have the sections in Maschines recorder. Anyway to do this?

Also is there a way to lower the volume of and individual pad without turning to the computer? All I see on the hardware is the volume control for sound which only alters the velocity characteristic. I see the volume on the browser but i'd rather do this on the hardware.

Page 174 in the manual will help in the controlling audio from each pad. Sorry, I don't use Cubase.

Does your audio interface allow you to route the audio to an output bus other than the master output and then back into Cubase? I know this is something I was able to do very easily when I still had my Creamware Pulsar (now known as Sonic Core Scope). I'm sure I can do this too with my E-mu 0404. It's probably possible with any audio interface that has multiple inputs and outputs.

hasn't this question already been answered in another thread?

i am not a Cubase user, but doesn't this mean that you can route your Maschine Instrument track to a Secondary Stereo Output. then create an Audio track and choose the Stereo Output 2 as your input?

Hmm, is this 5? I dont have instrumwnt track! SX3 is the latest.

    Any other ideas.

Now all I want is to capture what I hear, nothing more.

    Please advise.

    Thanks

Insert Maschine_FX on the track/bus you want to record. Set the input for the sound in Maschine to input 1. Choose input 1 L&R in the input selection in the sampler. Hit the start button in Maschine's sampler window. Done.

If you're saying that SX3 is what you have, then you're missing the advantage of free audio routing. Without that I don't know how you would capture your audion performance . I don't see why you just can't capture the midi performance using the program change and then render that to audio. Otherwise you may have to upgrade Cubase.

Perhaps someone else has another idea. Of course N.I. could just get the 1.1 update going to make all of this simpler.

It's been quite a long time since I've used Cubase as well (as I'm more of a Sonar / Ableton man these days). Geez, it's also been a while since I've really spent any time around the NI forum (too busy drinking coffee I guess).

Here's a suggestion though. An easy way to make use of Maschine's multiple audio outputs would be to:

    1. download Bidule (it's still in the free, though time limited beta)
    2. load Maschine as a VSTi within Bidule (be sure to connect your wiring!)
    3. route the output to Cubase via Rewire
    4. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about correctly setting this up.
    5. Good Luck!

It just occurred to me that a lot of my posts in the past have been to suggest solutions to problems using Bidule. I guess it shows you how flexible of a program it really is! ;)

Additionally, I'd like to say hello to ew & sowari. Nice to see you both still around the forum. It also appears that your patience knows no limit :)

If you don't use Cubase 5 but have an audio interface with multiple outputs, then you could always create a physical loop-back into your inputs with a couple of jack leads...

Just be careful when monitoring not to create a feedback loop ;) .

May be worth a shot if Bidule doesn't work out for you...

Sorry guys, but why you don't use the most simplest of all simple solutions?

Route the instrument output of Maschine to a group track. Then simply create an audio track and choose the group track as input for this audio track.

As soon as you arm the audio track and let play the instrument you should receive an audio signal. Then simply hit record and you are set. Doesn't that work? I didn't try it specificly with Maschine yet, but that way works for every other vsti/lib out there too.

HEK, Lotuz wrote "dummy" just the word it should be used for. You certainly won't find an output called "dummy" in Cubase.

Please read my previous post to make this work. If this doesn't work out, then Cubase LE might not be capable of it.

I don't think anyone knows how to record maschine in cubase or in any DAW for that matter.Or... it is so complicated that explaining it in clear terms almost impossible.Whatever the case...no one has been able to show how to make it work.
I don't understand why we have to figure it out...Can't Native Instruments just make it easy and work this out so regular falks stop trying to be recording engeneers...

Krolik, I think you didn't even read a few posts here on this thread. I remember posting a method which makes it able easily to rerecord audio to Cubase. Simply scroll back a few posts.

    EASIER!

Goto page 86 in your CUBASE LE4 manual and it details exactly how to do it!

Create a group channel and place MASCHINE output to that group (right click in instrument track), set the output,
create a new audio channel to record onto (must be same config as group - stereo or mono),
then set the input for that channel as group.

This will take the audio from the group output (this will be maschine) and route it to your new channel as requested

had the same prob my self so read the Cubase manual and hey presto!

good luck and thanks for making me RTFM cuz now I know.

    PS addressed to Krolik

It's a Cubase issue, not NI. This same problem would have been encountered on any VSTI if a record hookup was sought and not export, it just happens that the original request was geared around Maschine being recorded into Cubase.

    Thanks
