    Hey crew,

I'd like to record (audio & video) of a mix. I'm using the S4 with my MacBook pro and have been playing around with different configurations to make this work. I'm using Quicktime to do the screen recording. Recording the video doesn't seem to be a problem at all. It's capturing the audio that's tricky. I tried routing Traktor through "Built-in (CoreAudio)" but that still didn't seem to work. I was able to listen through my headphone out on my Mac but the video recording didn't capture the audio. Then I tried to run the audio through the S4 and ran a 1/4" to 1/8" from the S4's master out to to my Mac's input. This seemed to work but I was getting a ton of latency problems. Very odd.

Any thoughts on the best way to achieve this? How should I output the audio so my Quicktime screen capture will grab the audio too when it records the video?

    Thanks!

You could use Traktor's recorder and join the audio and video afterwards?

That's a great option. Do you know what software will join the audio & video?

iMovie would be an option to align the screen recording and video recording.

Have you checked your Audio Recording preferences in Quicktime - as you should be able to use the internal audio source (as you tried) and thus record everything.

    Thanks guys,

The suggestion to record video through quicktime and audio through Traktor then merge them together via iMovie did the trick. More steps then I'd like but worked nonetheless!

    Thanks!

Again, if you have 100$ to spare, screenflow is the way to go.. It really is a delight to work with this software compared to the workflow you're using now.

There are a couple free movie editors that work pretty good. Lightworks is fantastic. Microsoft Movie Maker is actually a very simple one as well. When I record sets, I will bridge the audio and video after the fact, then before I finalize the video, i will turn off the audio from the video feed so you only hear the audio which was recorded from traktor. Really simple, and alot of fun to do.. Here is a set I did last week, if you dig techno.

Pretty sure you can still do that with what you have. When I used to have the Numark N4, but I always had the Audio Setup to
N4 (Core Audio) then I would adjust the Output routing > Internal Tab > and try setting output decks 1&2 to Master & 3&4 to Output Record. Or switching to try Monitor with channels 3&4. Might have to experiment, I'm def no expert but thought I might help more than everyone telling you to buy stuff, or sync the two files.

I've certainly done that many times before I realized the capabilities of Quicktime. : ) Now i'm trying to figure out how to do the same thing but with 2 - 1200s and the Z2, it records video and audio but getting way too much timecode signal. uncool

Like this photo, had to grab a random image online because i don' have the N4 anymore so can't recreate the screen settings on my Program
