How to Remap Keyswitch Assignments?

    Hi all,

Can anyone give me a somewhat simple explanation of how to edit Keyswitch key assignments? I have combed through the Reference Manual, and it mentions it but does not explain it.

I am working on Mutations 2 in Kontakt 5. For example, I'd like to reassign Keyswitch (articulation) C6 to C5, since I don't have an 88-key keyboard.

    Any help appreciated!

    Tony

I'm not sure if Mutations 2 uses Kontakt's keyswitching or a custom script-written keyswitch feature, but if it's using Kontakt's own keyswitching, just go into Instrument Edit mode, open the Group Editor, and you'll see Group Start Options where you can change keyswitch triggers.

Do make sure Edit All Groups is switched off before making any changes, otherwise you'll change all groups at once to a new keyswitch key.

Why not just use transpose on your MIDI controller?

If I transpose down, I lose some of the sound keys. If I transpose up, I lose some of the Articulations.

I did try the Group edit page and looked at group start, but the assignments aren't there. So I guess it's scripted....which I know nothing about...yet! lol

    Thanks for the tips guys.

By the way, Mutations 2 is great. And the new Battery 4 is awesome...as is The Giant!

Map/assign the sounds you like to use and save them.
Load as a multi for easy acces.

Just do like this perhaps :
(A lot easyer than scripting if youre new to that. its a workaround but better than transpose on youre keyboard everytime imo)

This works but unfortunately doesn't change the light guide to match your remapped articulation keys. But you can create a midi template to match your preset in Komplete Kontrol's midi editor. Not ideal but you can't expect everything to fit within your key range all the time on a near 1/2 size keyboard, right?
