    Hi,

Is it possible to rename a user NKS preset saved in User Content subfolder for the particular VST instrument (eg. Serum, Phase Plant) and then have the new name show up in the Komplete Control rather than the original name?

Problem: I wanted to change the naming convention of a few hundred user presets. I can batch rename the files within Mac OS Finder just fine, but Komplete Kontrol still reads it as the original name.

I've tried deleting the database.db3 file and rescanning and deleting the individual files and then re-importing them back but no matter what I do, the file name in the User Content folder can be changed but only the originally saved name will show up within the Komplete Kontrol browser.

    Thanks.

it does not appear that a file "rename" outside KK is not reflected in the browser because the name used when originally saving the preset is embedded in the .NKSF file.

To batch process that kind of thing, you need to do that at a binary level editing using hex so you would have to script a way to hexedit the data since it is a binary format.

You can also just load a preset in KK then File > SaveAs and do it that way but of course not as easy to automate

    Thank you for the replies.

Unfortunately doing "Save As" for few hundreds of presets is not really something I have time for (lets say I do it at a world record speed of 15 seconds per preset it would still amount to more than an hour of work which I don't have energy for on my spare time and don't have the time for when I'm working).

Regrettably I don't understand a thing about "hex edit" so that it is not a solution for a non-IT-savvy person like myself.

In sum, there are solutions which are either too intensive ("save as") or simply out of my reach ("make a hex edit script").

NI - If you are listening, here's a problem which could do with a pragmatic solution.
