Ive put a few hours into traktor, its very impressive.

but people in here keep talking about editing the bmps to improve the beatgrid. whats the best way of doing this, and where is the "round" button ?

    thanks

click the "GRID" button under the corresponding deck and this is where you can type in your BPM value if you like. You can also try using the "TAP" function and then round off. Hope that helps.

Just as an observation; you don't want to "round" the BPMs. If the track's BPM actually is 127.99, if you go and round it to 128, the beatgrid will be off at the end of the track. There really is a reason why the beat analyser counts the BPM at such a high resolution.

I don't really round my BPMs but knew it was possible if one wanted to. But that is a very good point that I over looked.

    hey there,

experience tells a different story...I gridded about a thousand tracks and appr. 85-90% turned out to have exact bpm values.

Hence, I miss the rounding option in my gridding routine with TPro :(

I never believe Traktor's bpm value, neither a rounded one - only grids that satisfy my ears and eyes will be accepted...

Granted, I also believe only when the visual (looking at the grid) and aural (listening to the tik) checks have been confirmed - which is when I "lock" the grid.

However, for my case, this is very often not a round number; very close to, but not exactly round. The reason might be related to the fact that all of my collection is in AAC, encoded using "average bitrate". Perhaps with a "constant bitrate" the results would be more "esthetically pleasing" (in this case meaning more round numbers).

    ;)

why need a round button, if you can change the bpm by typing the amound of bpm? Then you can make buttons for everything

Because it is much easier to hit a button, than typing the value by hand.
