Here's what you'll need to do in Cubase 5:

    - Click on Devices (file menu)
    - Go to "Plug in Information".
    - Click" VST 2 Plug in paths".
    - Add a new path (it should point to where you installed the VST for Absynth).
    - Click Update
    - Click Update Plug-in information
    - Restart Cubase
    - Add a new instrument track - choose Absynth from the drop down list.

Then, if you like - this is optional - right click the track, go to Track Control Settings add "Edit Instrument" - to add a quick + easy way to open/close the Absynth panel.

It's sad that nobody else bothered to reply to you in 4 days, but I've only just seen your post. Hope that helps :)

heh, that's ok - glad you've made some progress. I didn't realise you had another thread going on the subject so it's nice to see other people have been helping you, but hopefully this doesn't get too confusing with 2 threads :)

You can add Absynth as an instrument track, or an effect (Absynth FX), and you can also control it via a standard midi track using the VST instrument panel (press F11 in Cubase). The easiest option to get started is to add it using an instrument track. If you're using a stereo set-up, make sure you select "Absynth Stereo" when you add the instrument track.

All you need to do then is either start playing with a midi keyboard, or draw a piano roll and then add some notes manually. Alternatively, Cubase 5 also supports virtual keyboard using an ordinary computer keyboard. To enable it - hold down Alt + K (default keybind).

    Hope this helps:)

Yeah delie im always making progress with you thanks again :) yeah i got absynth5 working when i added it in with a instrument track but like can you please tell me now how do bring up absynth5 interface so i can change the different sounds. is there only one way you can do it ? and that is once you open a absynth5 instrument track you then open edit Chanel settings and insert a absynth5 FX or FX surround ?

Ok, you've got two options. You can either click on the little grid icon in the left-hand inspector, or you can add the Edit Instrument icon to all tracks and open via the track.

I've made you a screen shot and added some comments to help:

Quick answer is - no, this isn't what you want to do. By doing this, you are actually running two separate copies of Absynth at the same time. One for the instrument, and one for the effects.

To explain it a bit further, effects are very different to instruments. Some VST's come with both Instrument and Effect modes. What this means is you can use it standalone in either mode.

You don't have to use Absynth as instrument to be able to use Absynth effects. You can put Absynth effects on to ANY audio track or VST instrument track.

By applying effects as Inserts, you are applying them to a single track, another option would be to investigate FX Channels, as these will allow you to route more than one channel through to a collection of effects.

    Hope this helps :)
