*How To* Setup Hercules MK2 for Mac and Traktor LE

I got my Hercules today at 1pm, it's now 9:30pm and I've only just got it going!

Eventually I called Hercules and spoke to a very nice French lady, and this is what she said:

1) Traktor LE freezing when configuring music folder:

Update the driver for your Hercules from this link ftp://ftp.hercules.com/sound/exe/DJConsoleMK2/HDJS_Tiger_3_0.pkg.z

so in the Hercules control panel/about is shows: Server v3.0

Then when you open Tractor 3 LE and the black box appears, click around in the black near the bottom right corner! eventually you'll hit the spot and it'll go away.

Seems an odd thing to do, and seems to be a result of having another version of Traktor installed. (I also found that if you search for Traktor in spotlight and delete all the files and reinstall it also fixes this problem)

2) You can't click the X in the Midi Interfaces Preference box in Traktor:

If you upgrade to the latest firmware, as above this problem will be solved.

3) Sound goes off when you select a output to the headphone:

Make sure your output to the speakers is in Output 1/2 at the back, the other is the same channel as the headphones.

4) Setting up for external mixer:

Plug left input on the external mixer to Output 1/2 and right input to Output 3/4. In Tractor Preferences set 'output routing' to 'external' and make sure A goes to output 1 and 2 and B goes to 3 and 4. In the DJ Console Control panel under Advanced settings don't use the 'use external mixer' button it doesn't work! instead set the Cross Fader Settings to "Lock on Deck A" and on the mixer put the cross fader over to the left and leave it there, then put the headphone selection switch on the Hercules to "Deck B".


It is a shame it doesn't work straight out of the box and seems a bit odd to have to jump through all these hoops, seems it may have been shipped to early for them to sort out the problems. However I must say the telephone assistance was great and I'm happy it's now running, let me know how you get on,

Frustrated!

Dude, I got the Herc/Traktor LE combo a week ago, and I'm still having problems - Honestly I'm going to ebay this sh*t. It's just a big mission -

weak instructions..
The joy stick is too sensitive
MIDI problems
Still cant get itunes playlists to import.

oh yeah, try to scratch (with the crossfader) you can't because pressing down the 3 to activate scratching deactivates the crossfader.


It appears that the hercules controller works better with Virtual DJ....
