how to turn off auto id3 tag writing?

this is a problem for me because traktor automatically writes id3 tags every time it accesses a file, but I can't keep my new music straight because it gets buried behind all the old music I load into traktor. thanks

 

It would be great if traktor didn't change the modification date!

 

I thought there was a new option to disable it in 1.1.1. Is there not?

Personally I use ChangePropertiesNow to lock all my MP3's from Traktor and Zune. Takes all of 10 seconds to check my 38k files.

the only workaround available now is to set the files to read-only.
all infos you add (beatgrid, cue points etc) are saved in the collection file as well. so that should not be a problem.

the only problem with the read only file is that you can't move them easily to another traktor pc

 

I'm confused. I thought one of the new options was to turn writing off. What exactly does 'Option to remove Traktor-specific tags from music files" mean?

Also, I use AllWay Sync with Read Only set to sync drives. No problems. Even if it was, ChangePropertiesNow is a wicked fast app. Still, I'd rather Traktor not mess with my files. Neighter VDJ or MixMeister does this.

 

In preferences >File Management > deselect Analyse on Import and Load Options. Also deselect Set Beat Grid.

So the option is to turn everything off, collection and tag, not just tags?

 

No you can add a track to collection but with the above mentioned deselections Traktor wont Analyse the track.

file structure, especially dating, is a big deal to me, as I have so much music and no other way to keep it straight chronologically. This simple fact should be obvious to NI as its been obvious to every other developer of DJing software, but of course we are stuck with this ridiculous "feature" that wants to rearrange our entire library. And of course, if you turn it off, you can't get a waveform readout.

WTF NI? Between this and the bullshit with changing tons of little features such as channel filter resonance, you are taking away creative features from the program and making working with traktor a nightmare. You're making me want to jump ship here, I've never appreciated the simplicity and consistency of other programs that don't change much from version to version (like ableton) until now.

Um, when I analyse a track in TPro1.1.1 it actually resets the "Date Created" to today. Also happens when I edit track info in Traktor (artist, genre etc.).
Very annoying!

Isn't there a prefs file (mac) in the Traktor Settings Folder where we can set manually the default checkmarks (bpm) which are set in the tag editor in traktor?

 

OK, after fiddling around a bit, I've found that this only happens with WAV files (which don't support tagging anyway) - AIFFs and MP3s are not affected by this bug.

I sync my music from a master computer and everytime I use Traktor on my laptop I have to resync the songs I played because something in the file changed.

 

unbelievable. I guess grand master flash and richie "the cube" sellout don't give two craps about traktor rearranging their ENTIRE LIBRARY, but I do. and why the hell is it necessary to write tags or mess with our files anyway? I like my files to be bit-to-bit the same as I downloaded them from beatport, not with traktors headers and other junk in it. and no, I will not stop complaining about this until it gets FIXED. or until deckadance (a far superior dj app I might add) supports FLAC. sigh.

I fully support bitching about the bugs in Traktor, but don't bring up other brands. It diminishes a very valuable point. While I think that NI should slow down on adding features to a very feature-rich program that is full of stuff I enjoy, I would like to see them go the route of a certain other DVS system, and make the features they have be fool proof, and completely on lock. Saying the names of other companies or trying to push them only cheapens a very true gripe.
