How to update Kontakt database?

    After installing recent Kontakt updates, I notice that some of my Kontakt instruments aren't being categorised properly in the database.

    For instance:
    1) the Trumpet patch in the Cuba bank is missing its Sample Size
    2) The Scarbee MM-Bass doesn't seem to have a subtype associated with it (e.g., Fingered Bass, Upright Bass, etc.)
    3) The West African fluets don't have subtypes (if anything they should be under "Other")

    Is there a way to automatically rebuild the Kontakt database?

    Or are there known "gaps" in the patch categories and meta-data which only manually editing can fix?

    Try Options->Database->Reset and Scan.

    I’ve learnt from some of your posts that earlier versions of Kontakt use to have a lot more Database functionality... Do you know of a way to add Tags to the current set available?
    I use Kontakt in less of a musical way and more of a sound effects way. There are Type filters like Soundscape and Sound Effects, but their sub filters are limited to things like Shots, Water, or Metal. I would like to add more to these if that is possible.

    You cannot add tags any longer to Kontakt's database, as far as I know. That functionality was removed in Kontakt 5. You can still do it in Kontakt 4, though.
