I installed Komplete 8 Ultimate and wanted to keep Reaktor 5.6.0 (due to the master snapshot deal) but had to install 5.6.1 to get the content that I installed under the player tab (Razor,Spark etc..) to work. So I renamed it to Reaktor 5.6.0 and dragged it from a back up. How would I use this version? Do I put it in the application folder next to the new version and launch it from there? And will it need the older library version to work? I don't want to mess things up with Reaktor so any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks.

You need to backup the entire Reaktor directory if you want to use both standalones on the same system. The content released with version 5.6.1 will not open in an older version. Concerning the Plug-In within a DAW you can only use either or.

Oh okay I get it. Thank you sampleconstruct. I encourage NI to fix the issue with the master snapshots. Especially since they use the User Library as a selling point.

fwiw, i have kept a copy of 5.6.0 on my Macbook, and the only thing i use it for is to load User Library Ensembles and use the Make Master Snapshot feature. once i have done that, i use 5.6.1 for everything.

to clarify, if you do decide to keep 5.6.0, there is not much point in using it for most of your Reaktor work. also remember that if you update to 5.6.1, your Reaktor VSTs will also be updated.

Thanks Sowari, do you think NI will issue an update to be more compatible with the older ensembles?

I've had to keep a copy of the 5.6.0 dll in my plugins directory right next to the 5.6.1 version, just so when I come across an ensemble with no master snapshots set I can open it in that and set it, and thereafter use it normally in the later version. Just renamed the earlier version Reaktor56.dll so Windows didn't copy one over the other and since I only use the earlier version for that one thing there is no risk to my projects etc. Seems to work fine for now - eventually there will come a point where it is not viable as a strategy though so it doesn't let NI off the hook, they still need the fix the problem they created.

There is no necessity to install both standalones and in fact I would not recommend that - the plugin is adequate for this. As a matter of course I always back up (in a ZIP file) previous versions of the plugins when I install an update - good habit to develop
