    Hi.

I've been using AK1 with my MacBook Pro and two studio monitors for quite some time, and I'm very satisfied so far. But yesterday when I connected my new subwoofer, I ran into a little problem.
The two studio monitors are connected to output 1/2 and the subwoofer is connected to output 3, the problem is that I can only listen to either 1/2 or the 3/4 outputs, not all of them at same time.

Does anybody know how to do that? Please help!

What, do I have to set up the correct settings for every program I use? Isn't there a easy way to just activate all the outputs..?

Because when I plug my guitar into the instr. input in the front of AK1 and press the "Monitor" "On" button, I get sound from both my monitors and sub (Output 1/2 & 3/4), but when I play a mp3 file in iTunes, or try to watch a movie in VLC, Quicktime etc. I only get sound from my monitors (Output 1/2).

I don't know if that made any sense to you, english isn't my primary language, so it's kinda hard to explain better.. ;)

    He's OSX...

You could try making an aggregate device in your OSX audio setup menu and using that. I'm not sure if that would work or not, though...

I'm not a Mac user and I miss so very much to be able to use Jack OS X, which is able to solve this issue for sure (though I don't know the exact procedure), but it's not available for windows :-((

    http://www.jackosx.com/

    it might help

Damn, I've tried everything I can think of now. Aggregate device didn't, work, JackOSX didn't work and I've tried hundreds of different settings in Leopard with no success.

When I'm in the "Audio MIDI Setup" in Leopard, there's an option to "Configure Speakers". When I press it, it says that the AK1 har 4 channels in 2 different streams (stream 1 has ch. 1-2, stream 2 has ch. 3-4). The default setting here is stereo mode, so I switched it over to multichannel and quadraphonic.

Now I get up the four channels to AK1. Here I can press each of the channels to play a test sound and check the connection. When pressing ch. 1 and 2, I get sound from my left and right monitor. When I press ch. 3 (where my sub is connected) I also get sound, so everything seems to be in order there..

I then exit the "Audio MIDI Setup" and try to play a mp3 in itunes, but still there's no sound from the sub. Seems the AK1 only can play one stream at the time, where stream 1 is ch. 1-2 and stream 2 is ch. 3-4.

Any other ideas what to do..?

If I don't find a solution, I'll probably have to buy a dual female to male jack cable or something to connect one of the monitors to the same output as the sub.. :|

I'd say have a look on the Mac forums. I doubt the AK1 is the problem in this case.

    Subwoofer with AK1

I am planning to buy a subwoofer. I am running Win Xp pro.

How should I connect a subwoofer to AK1? My out 1/2 are occupied with two studio monitor.

I read somewhere that it is not possible to get sound from 1/2 and 3/4 simuntaneously. Is this true?

Sorry. I am quite new to this stuff.

    Any help would be appreciated.

It all depends on the app in question on whether or not you can use both pairs of outputs at the same time or not; some allow it and some don't.

Thanks for your very quick reply.

I will be using it with

    1. NI products: absynth
    2. Nuendo 4
    3. Wavelab

I see with genral applications like windows media this is not possible!

Use jack or jack-to-xlr cables from output 1/2 (AK1) to the inputs on your subwoofer, then connect your studio monitors to the outputs on the sub. You don't need to use both outputs 1/2 and 3/4 to hook up your sub. :)
