Hundrets of people have Activation problems

    Looking at forums all over the web and also on this forum, it seems that many people have activation problems with NI Service Center.
    It is so strange to me that NI dosen't write a "Solution to all ya problems" Thread or improve the Service Center so that people have other posibilities to activate the products, if the Service Center software fails.

    I got a brand new PC win XP from Dell, nothing installed to mess up the ServiceCenter from NI.
    I bought the FM8 and started installing. Then came the time for the Service Center to launch: It popped up shortly, i saw the spinning wheel for 3 seconds and it dissapered. Nothing happende, no Activation.

    By accident i found a solution: For 2 minutes my internet was somehow disconnected, all of a sudden the Service Center Flashpage stayed open, and asked me to connect to internet.
    Waau! Something new happende. I reconected to internet and clicked the "NEXT" button and it Activated the software.

    So all i have to do now, to activate my other NI products are: 1. Disconnect my internet, 2. start ServiceCenter flash, 3. reconnect to internet.

    Well the update dosent work now, but fortunately updates can be downloaded the old fashion way.

    Hello Peter,

    the phenomenon you describe rather sounds like a temporary server downtime or overload. We had some problems in the last 24 hours which should be fixed by now. Sorry for the inconveniences.

    No it isn't that making the problem.
    The issue is still there. We can start the NI Service Center on an old PC with IE version 6.

    But on our new laptops with IE-7 the Service Center software closes down emidiately after a few "spinns".
    The only way to connect to the Service Center is to Launch NI Service Center with no internet connection, and click "cansel", then when the NI Service Center application stopps, telling about the internet problem, we reconnect internet and the Service Center launches.

    To me it seems that the problem is on your server. And could have something to do with time-out on your end or maybe an issue with IE version 7 changing the time-out parameters at your end?

    I'm not seeing that here with my IE7 machine. What version of the Service Center's installed on yours?

    We downloaded the new ServiceCenter version: 1.1.0.18
    We only have one npswf.dll file (macromedia flash) on the PC, version is 9.
    There is absolutely no other software on the PC but Win XP sp2 Professional, your ServiceCenter, Kontakt and The FM-8 synth software.

    We can repeat the problem: The Service Center launches, the "wheel" is spinning and then it closes down with no error messages.
    If we disconnect our internetconnection, The Service Center launches, it detects that there is no internet and we get the infopage of the Service Center "Try to connect again", we then connect to internet and the Service Center now works, but its not possible to get the Service Center upgrade to function. The Service Center seems to "time-out". However, the activation seems to work.

    Thats helpful.
    I've just spent E300 on Massive. I get home and am faced with a blank page which should instead be offering me my "Activation Verification" file.
    Any ideas on how to otherwise achieve activation on this product?
