Been using the Audio 8 with an APC40 and Ableton but also now toying with the idea of getting Traktor for playing about on. As well as Traktor & the timecode vinyl, what else do I need? Can I get everything I need in one package (without the Audio 8)

    Your help appreciated.

If you want to play with timecode on cd or vinyl, you need Traktor Scratch Pro not Traktor Pro. I assume you bought the audio8 as a separate from somebody? As it usually comes with Traktor Scratch Pro.

Bought it from djstore a couple of years ago, I may have Traktor Scratch Pro on a disc if it has always been issued? What else do I need then (Cables etc)

    Thanks for your help

You need to buy the Traktor Scratch Pro upgrade for owners of a Traktor certified soundcard/mixer. It's in the webstore above. It comes with vinyls and CDs.

As far as cables go, I'm assuming that you're already using an external mixer. If you just want to play tracks on your computer using timecode, you'd need 4 stereo sets of RCA cables, 2 from your turntables to the Audio8 in set to vinyl and the other two as outputs from the audio8 to your mixer. If you also wanted to play vinyl traditionally, you should look for the NI Cables that come with Scratch Pro. I occasionally see them on Craigslist & Amazon.

@ SirReal -Can I ask then if you have Audio 8 and traktor scratch Pro and you want to continue to use audio8.
Do you buy the software upgrade or certified upgrade - I'm a bit confused.

Thanks for your quick response, great help.

One question, I have just looked at the kit and it says it doesnt come with a multicore cable. What is this and do I need it?

Also, what is the DVS plug in?

    Thanks.

    @ Dirk,
DVS Plugin is what allows you to use timecode vinyls or cd's, it's abslutely necessary for Traktor SCRATCH Pro. Just Traktor Pro is exactly the same as Traktor SCRATCH Pro but without the DVS Plugin. Also you only need the multicore cable(Or one you've created yourself) IF you want to be able to play regular vinyl AND Timecode Vinyl without replugging cables.

    @cabsurfer,
Confused, are you talking about the new Traktor 2 coming out in April? Otherwise, if you already have an audio8 AND Traktor SCRATCHPro it will work just fine at the current version even after the new version of Traktor is released.

    Thanks again, greatly appreciated.

So what I need is DVS, Traktor Scratch Pro, Multicore Cable and 4 stereo RCS cables?
    ---
Sorry, when I go to the shop it gives me an option of:

1/ Multicore Cable: Mixer Segment with: 4 x male RCA connectors 2 x female RCA connectors 1 x female 7 pin XLR jack AUDIO 8 DJ Segment with: 4 x male RCA connectors 1 x male 7 pin XLR jack

2/ Multicore Cable: 2 x Mixer Segment with 4 x male RCA connectors, 2 x female RCA connectors, 1 x female 7 pin XLR jack

Do I need these two cables? If I get them do I then need the 4 Stereo RCA? Sorry, confused.
    ---
    Ok, getting even more confused:

    I get get:

1/ TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO 2 Hardware Upgrade. £344.

TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO 2 Software, TRAKTOR AUDIO 10 Audio Interface, Power Supply, USB cable, 6x RCA cable, 2x Timecode Vinyl, 2x Timecode CD

    or

2/ TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO 2 Certified Upgrade Kit £257

TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO 2 software with DVS plug-in, 2 control vinyl records/2 control CDs,

So if I pay £90 more, I can get the Audio 10 soundcard and the 6XRCA cables. Assume all I would then need is the Multicore for playing vinyl at the same time?

Looks like a no brainer, I could sell one of the soundcards and it will work out a lot cheaper? Is this right?

The only way you can get the Traktor Scratch Pro 2 Hardware upgrade is if you already have a licensed copy of Traktor Scratch Pro, hence the term upgrade. Do you have a licensed copy?

    Correct.
The Hardware upgrade only works for registered users of TRAKTOR SCRATCH, TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO, TRAKTOR SCRATCH DUO.

    TSP2: buy new or upgrade?

Sorry- I was inquiring about the TSP 2. I bought TSP which Audio 8 came with. If I wish to have TSP 2 and continue to use audio 8 - do i upgrade the software or have to buy the certified upgrade.
Also with the hardware upgrade does mean I can sell the TSP package?

    Thanks

    @ cabsurfer,

Do a quick search about TSP2 it's all been covered. I'll do you one better, do a search on TSP2 and posts by Karlos Santos and you'll probably find he's answered this quite a few times.
