airflamesred, it's just a Yamaha P-121 digital piano, very basic and simple (eventually I will upgrade/augment). Is there an alternative way to access the CC1 function which you and others have referred to? Apologies for any dumb questions, my MIDI knowledge is still pretty limited at this point.

    Just draw them inside logic.

Glad this thread helped LisaMarie. Quite honestly I still find it frustrating although I understand now how it works.
After recording I listen while manipulating the modwheel. But anyway, I endup finally using the mouse to adjust the automation values.
    Good luck! :)

If you really are happy to have a violin that can only change its volume when it plays a new note, try this little script, which sets cc#1 (2nd line) according to the velocity of your note. It'll certainly restrict expressiveness.
    Code:
    on note
     set_controller(1,$EVENT_VELOCITY)
    end on

Paste the code into a vacant script slot and press Apply
(In case of difficulty, it might work best in the first slot, if so you`ll need to save the other scripts as presets, and load them back further along)
When you save your altered instrument, for God's sake give it a different name.
