This update gave me almost every feature I wanted in Maschine. It would have been nice to been able to juggle through different patterns in the same group in the same scenes, to have access to full rewire capabilities, and audio tracks but for a nice little workstation music making tool 2.0 is great. And I love how you made it make sense on the MK2 as well. Just wanted to say thanks this is a great update. I might actually sell my Live 9 license and just use Maschine full time now.

I love happy post like this congrats, what would you juggle beats with if you got rid of Live 9, is there something else with it's crossfading and ability to tweak multiple patterns within the same scene that you know of?

I would find a work around in Maschine. I have been looking for a workflow like this for years. The only reason I used Maschine as a vst before was the single core bottle necks I would run into. Now that its multicore that's gone and it runs even my more demanding 3rd party vsts better cpu wise than Live. I just want a space to make beats in that's all Live was to me with some audio editing features to boot.

Will definitely still be using Live, but glad to see that 2.0's dragging and dropping of audio and midi is improved with the new responsiveness, and I like the idea of sampling from Live into Maschine. It would be really cool if for Battery the cell names were present in the piano roll though! :)

I think it's nice that NI gets back some positive vibes from customers.. and not only the bad stuff.. it strenghtens their spirit im sure.
    I'm with you here Kev.. i've also looked for this piece of gear for almost 20years.. F. I. N. A. L. L. Y!
For that sweet cherry on top of the cake i do hope they give us the possibility to add library icons to user libraries and able to truncate
long vendornames.. apart from that this gear will change everything for me from now on.

    cheers

NI definitely did an amazing job here. Instead of resigning themselves to going a fully DAW route...they stuck with this concept of making beats on an actual unit, and have pushed the envelope there considerably. Just having these nice screens makes a world of difference.

That's a long time. I felt like i waited too long and I was using Reason off and on from 2003 to 2012.

Yes totally agree - mad props to NI - the team has done a fantastic job. The design of this product is meticulous. I suggest we celebrate the success of this project for a few days at least before we start finding fault in it. I know what it is like to deliver new software I have slaved over and it is so disheartening when the customer fails to appreciate what has actually been accomplished. Much appreciated NI - thank you and well done!

So you think what they did for the mixer on the small hardware was also a good idea?

Maschine 2 has its flaws but a lot of those things were flaws Maschine had anyway that will be fixed over time. For me the biggest thing I needed was multicore support. I love the drum synth engines. The mixer is nice though I wish I could mix with my macros and not just the big knob and one pad at a time on my MK2. The new GUI and Browser will take some getting used to but I kind of preferred how simple the old one was. If it ain't broke don't fix it you know. Hell they could have just added multicore to 1.8 and I would have been excited tbh lol

Its not perfect but nothing in life is. I wish I could mix with the macros instead of just the big knob and I wish I could do it to multiple tracks at once. It would have been nice to have rewire and audio tracks as well. I know a lot of Reason users in particular who would love to have or already have Maschine and they use it for their drum needs and then export the stems to Reason. Being able to host Reason in Maschine would be awesome and open the flood gates to another community of people who would likely embrace it fully.

But that makes it hard to consider it as a mixer, not really sure why they went that route.

Its better than what we had. I would probably just end up doing my mixing with a mouse in that situation anyway. Not ideal but again its still an improvement

Not sure I agree with that, they carried over flaws so what says they will fix them in time?
Wouldn't this release actully be considered over time?
Being a software product makes the retention of problems harder to except than with straight hardware.
A better v2 released in January would be better than October and a new waiting game.

And miss out on the Christmas money? Crazy talk lol. They wanted to get that Studio under some trees. Idk though all of my wishes except for audio tracks and rewire were brought into 2.0. I would rather mix from the hardware with my macros but the mixer is not a deal breaker for me. I am enjoying the software. Its too bad that it didn't have the same effect on you but you can't please everyone.

Because 2.0 is actually an entirely new software. NI has said that there’s not a single line of code copied from the original. This was necessary to lay the foundation for things like multicore support and all the MIDI features like internal routing and import, and other upcoming features in future updates like realtime timestretch, and possibly even linear tracks.
