The name Maschine is synonymous with a great piece of groove and beat making software/ hardware.

iMaschine is a massive let down. I thought that it would be a scaled down version of Maschine.

You, know, a small arrange page and pattern editor with the possibility to at have more than 4 tracks.

And the sounds (what there are of them) are not editable.

What is going on with the effects? You can only have 2 effects and these have to be the same two for any of the
four tracks they are applied to.

Good job they called it a sketchpad. It's just about legal to call it that.

ITS CRAP!! Why did you bother NI?

As for the expansion packs, what a rip off. I bought them all and still only have a handful of preset instruments.

And whats more of a let down and confusing is when I export from iMaschine to Maschine I get all sorts of gliches,
the solo doesn't work for some tracks and mute is kinda hit and miss. And even though I'm told all samples are wav files etc
after importing the song into Machine2 I can't find any of the samples in any of the folders??

You could've made a great app but you made a piece of s**t.

I've never felt so restricted when using a beat making app..

    DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

    Thanks for the reply :)
It's not possible to have a 'trial' with iMaschine.. Let's face it I'm not bankrupt after buying it and all the expansion packs @69p each. Lol. I guess I just use it as a 'sketchpad'. But I couldn't help thinking that it was going to be 'special'. Then again if it was too good then no one would bother with the Maschine2.

I have to admit that N.I.'s advertisement is a bit misleading: "iMaschine is the world-leading iOS app for creative beatmaking - and it just got better."

If it is intended as a creative tool, why are there so many restrictions and omissions that limit creative workflow? No copy/paste, no midi controller support, no Audiobus, etc. I understand that it is a 'sketchpad' but even a sketchpad should have unrestricted creative workflow.

i actually love this app... its not the best on the app market, but something about it that makes it my go to app when i'm on the go for creating quick beats... i only wish there was a export midi feature, cause when i create a great drum loop i'd like to go home and change some of the sounds if not all of them when i import it into my maschine software or DAW. other than that i'm pretty much happy with the app.

That's cool and understandable. As it is now, I like iMaschine. It has a nice interface and some cool features, but if they would add Audiobus and/or IAA the like would turn to love. I know many other users who feel the same way. We own other N.I. products too so N.I. would not be losing any precious revenue by allowing iMaschine to be used with other IOS apps. It would actually draw more folks to N.I. products. As it stands now N.I.'s unnecessary restrictive policies are having a polarizing effect.

true.. i own audiobus but to be honest i don't understand it at all... i played around with it for a little, and it was just weird for me, so many people rave about it, i wish i understood how to use it in my production. I'm on vacation maybe i'll spend a few hours with it, to see if i can learn how to use it.. than maybe i understand why people use it so much, and want it in all the music apps.

The beauty of Audiobus and IAA is that it allows us to take advantage of each music apps' strengths. It is tailor made for an app. such as iMaschine because iMaschine doesn't have to be an all-in-one solution. It is great for creating beats. Those beats could then be seamless fed through Audiobus or IAA in real-time and recorded into a multi-track DAW such as Auria or Cubasis and combined with world-class synth apps. such as AniMoog or Arturia SEM or Waldorf Nave, etc. No single app. is good at everything and because of Audiobus and IAA they don't have to be. 99.9% of music apps. support Audiobus or IAA or both. Check out the videos on Youtube to get some ideas on using it.

I understand what iMaschine is supposed to be, and it's something I could personally use- a quick sketch pad for when you're not at your DAW.

But I am completely useless at playing grooves on an iPod or iPad touch screen. If iMaschine had a step editor it would be invaluable. I would use it all the time. Instead I just sing my groove ideas into Voice Recorder or into Propellerhead Take.

I agree, IAA would take it up a level for sure. GarageBand is cool for sequencing (to a point) bug if I could use maschine for drums I'd be one happy camper. A sequencer of some sort is a must if this app isn't going to become obsolete in the next few months. Beatmaker 2 and Impc are already ahead in terms of functionality. Come on NI, catch the **** up already!!

Yeah even a simple piano-roll/step edit screen! Considering that exporting from iMPCPro is still really primitive at the moment - NI could get a real step-up here.

Honestly I love iMaschine - it's more the fact that I can record a bunch of ideas real quick if I have them in my head. I'll then save them in a folder just incase I need some idea jogging

I like that too, what I don't like is that I can't take my ideas any further than that. AT ALL. In this day and age where so much more is possible it makes me wonder what NI's intentions are with Imaschine. I suspect they don't think it has legs financially and so are not putting much more into it.

Yes, the word sketch pad is on the NI site...It also says " professional beat making" and that it's a "sampler, sequencer and audio recorder" personally, I haven't found the sequencer yet...anyone else? But it's ok, we can just focus on that one word...sketchpad...sketchpad...sk..
