I miss the cup feature. Why did NI take it out?

So here it is, I finally got my S4 and I love it. One thing missing though, my cup. I never really used the cue button for anything since all my cues are on the hot start buttons. I read the manual and looked for it, but it's not there anymore.

it could be one more parameter to tweak as a personal preference. for example, when a track is playing, pressing play could play again from the last cue point (CUP) instead of pausing the track.

as you have the chance to choose if you want the action of the cue button to happen instantly or when releasing the button, one should be able to select which way wants the play button to do.

What's also an option, and what I prefer to do. Just cue your song with the Cue button. When held, the track plays along, you can press Play anytime and it will continue to even when Cue is released. That's kinda like Cup I think, not sure actually.

 

That is the current behaviour with traktor with the CUE button. Nothing like CUP.

 

i am in the same boat, surely NI could have an option in traktor to change the behaviour of cue to cup? its the only thing i miss about using my VCI

 

agreed, allow us to tweak the config

 

Maybe an update that will allow you in the preferences to change the cue to cup. This is big considering that the cup button is right in front of you on the software decks and you can't use it. I don't want to mess with a perfectly great configuration if I don't have to. This should be an option you should be able to choose.

How is cup different from the play on release preference? Isn't that the same thing?

 

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing this as an option in the settings control panel, under deck controls (I believe). It was something like change cue to cup

 

play on release applys to the CUP button, but the S4 does not have a button mapped to the CUP only the CUE, making the CUP "instant" or "play on release" preference pointless unless you do a custom map or use the mouse! which i dont want to do obviously

I have however emailed NI asking for this to be implemented and I have had a reply saying its been forwarded to the developers. I suggeest that everyone who misses CUP do the same!
