I use bandstand and I just got a Edirol PCR300 controller that I want to use with it.

I also us a Line 6 GX as my soundcard. I've tried all I can to connect the PCR to Bandstand and the GX, but it doesn't work. Do I need midi cables in order to connect the PCR to my laptop computer?

 

I have PCR-300 too, and midi cables are for hardware gear only. The communication btwn PC/PCR is with USB cable. Do you have the PCR editor? In midi devices it must say IN: PCR-2....Out: PCR
If you can't play any notes, check your MIDI I/F setting, it must be set to off
Edit/SYS/SYS008/off
It is a great midi controller, but takes a bit of time to get used to...

I'm still working on it.
I really love the grand piano sound in Bandstand. I can play a really heavy chord and it's like you can hear the sound of the wood of the grand piano itself.

 

I've yet again tried everything possible I can do to get it working, I've tried every single midi channel but nothing works!
Another stupid thing to throw in the back of the closet...
The Audio System I'm using is Asio.

 

This may be obvious, but: (1) Have you been able to get the PCR300 to work with any other software? (2) Did you connect the PCR300 to your machine before you started Bandstand?

 

1: No.
2: Yes.

 

You might try to get your PCR300 working with some other software first. That way you know it's not broken. Also be sure you're using the latest drivers for your PCR300.

 

I have the V2 version, the most advanced one already. I'll try to see what else I can do.
I've tried Bandstand both alone and as a plugin in Reaper. Can't get any sound out of the PCR.

 

One more thought: If you're running Windows, install MIDI-OX, which you can then use to examine the stream of MIDI data that should be coming from your PCR300.
