    Hello!

    Herwig says:

Okay, my knob has ranges of -10 to 10 with step size of 0.2 (number of steps is 100 then). I have counter which sends step size with some trigger event and output of this counter goes to IC Send. The problem is that I can't make IC Send to work properly - it always skips some values for button, however IC Receive works properly. I tried to set different range of minimum and maximum values, but is there some universal bandwidth formula? Is there some general solution for this problem?

    Regards,
    Aleks.

I was playing with bandwidth today, but nothing good came out. Still skipping some steps. However, when I have range of -5 and 5 and set max of IC Send to 5 and min to -5.2 it works.

Can you upload your ens ? I've been playing around with a simple knob->IC Send->knob path, and i also experienced the skipping thing as well. Then i tried changing mouse res on the target knob to match the number of steps (100), and how surprised i am that there's no skipping anymore :D

Great, i'll have a look at it :) Anyway, is changing mouse res eliminates the skipping ?

Try doubling the mouse res to the steps value.

    Still skips value of 1.8!

Hmmm... try increasing the IC Send module range? This may be weird...

I tried. For example, when I have Max 10 and Min -10.2, knob will have minimum of 9.8, when 10.2 and -10.2 it skips 1.8, 10.2 and -10 it skips 1.6.

    Heheh, damn.

Here's a wish for R6 - IC modules send the full range of values, in floats!

Have you tried doubling the IC send range? XD

    Yes, tried almost everything..

Problem solved - it's not IC Send issue at all.

Setting mouse reso to 300 worked it out.

OTOH, this raises a question about how really knob steps and mouse resolution cooperate together and how does that relate to the values that are shown and output.

wrong setting of properties: set mouse resolution to 101 because you have 100 steps but 101 values!

There are different cases with such settings when using knobs, mouse areas, IC-send etc. Best thing is to send only integers via IC-send and after receiving these calculate the wanted values.

Maybe the knob only 'understands' 0-127 MIDI values ? I'm suspecting this because i think they are designed to be automated via MIDI, also because the default number of step and mouse res is 127. Anyway Alex, great idea of using Display Rate as clock source, i never knew it still can generate events when audio is turned off..

Well, nothing helps here - neither EvilDragon's help, nor Herw's. I'll try it on PC today, but I don't think it depends on processor type or whatever. It skips 1.8 with EvilDragon's solution and -0.2 with Herw's.

Have you tried number of steps other than 100 within the core cell ? 127 maybe ? I'm curious, if the IC source is also a knob, simply matching number of steps with mouse res works perfectly with it.
