I am using various rReaktor ensembles in performance. i can see a few ways the program could improve for working on stage. Maybe NI has already thought of thes ideas, but if not, it sure would help us folks who are continually pushing the envelope.

    1. Display a LIST of ensembles as part of a split screen. NI already has this LIST idea programmed wonderfully into KONTAKT, and it makes my show develop so much more smoothly once i get out of Reaktor and boot up Kontakt. If possible, let me see this list with two or three possible snapshots so i can load the next ensemble with my choice of snapshot also loaded.

    2. Let's see a list of possible snapshots right on the screen at all times instead of having a dropdown list. More importantly, I REALLY need to have a smooth transition from one snapshot to the next without sudden silences, followed by bursts of volume. It would also be helpful to be able to set an ORDER to the snapshots (by duration) or let me switch snapshots by simply pressing an onscreen button which controls this order.

    3. I suggest adding, to Reaktor, the Kontakt metaphor of a multi-instrument. Let a performer load 3 or 4 instruments at one time. This would be worthwhile even if memory limitations demand I play individual ensembles one at a time. You see, having them all loaded, eliminates the greatest problem of any performance of computer music, which is crashing. Thankfully it is a rare occurance but, nonetheless, it can really bring down the energy of a show in progress. Even better, let me play the ensembles in a multi TOGETHER which totally expands what i can do in a show. As far as memory usage goes, the program already handles this well by simply shutting itself off temporarily when overloaded. I would just love to have STEAMPIPE loaded with my various oceanic sounds while DSQ is adding a bizarre didgeridoo waltz in the far background and PAD is adding random bass parts in 6/8.

    4. To summarize, what I mostly seek is smoother transitions, using Reaktor in performance. The solution i propose, is making Reaktor look more like Kontakt. But let me clear. I understand quite well that i can easily sample various reaktor sounds, and then map them into Kontakt. But that doesn't do it for me, because, in performance, I prefer the tactile control of playing Reaktor instruments with all the unique dials at my disposal.

I'm sure other users have ideas on how to optimize Reaktor as an onstage instrument. I'd like to hear them.

If you look at the Reaktor 4 pages,1 and 2 on your list are taken care of.
As to 3,you can do that already.Just save the instruments out of the ensembles that you want to use as instruments, and combine them in a new ensemble.

1 - 3: its all possible with the browser window in reaktor 4. ;D

4: well, your talking about 2 different programs here, you can make reaktor 'look' like kontakt by designing your own interface, but as far as workflow, kontakt works for what it does, and reaktor works for what it does. restricting the flow of reaktor would just make it harder to use/abuse. on another note, the biggest issue i have with kontakt is the scrolling factor, its quite annoying.

now for the real deal: give me FFT and envelope shaping like kontakt's 'FlexEnv' as well as sample mapping for more then one map. ie: instruments.

Maybe I'm not following what you're asking for, but you can do #3 in Reaktor today if you take a minute to just cut and paste all the instruments into one big ensemble.

we should all start whining about it now as to make sure reaktor 5 gets a FFT module... :)

If I understand this right, Spectral Delay uses a super efficient fft algorithm. I heard an interview by the programmer talking about this, streamed from NI web about a year ago....
I suppose Vocator uses this algorithm too...?

great idea is support vsti/dxi interface in reaktor (for example connecting vst plugs -fm7, absynth and more from reaktor and control them )

Yeah, we do need some FFT modules. Reaktor is great for quick granular stuff, and if it had FFT modules, it would be great for quick convolution-based ensembles and such.

At least.. it would keep me out of Max a bit more, haha.
