...will I still have an unaltered "KONTAKT 2" available?

Or will the KONTAKT 3 upgrade install wipe-out the KONTAKT 2 that is currently on my computer?

    TIA

I could install my Kontakt 3 upgrade without having Kontakt 2 on the machine (I built a new machine from scratch), so I would think it's possible. There is some overlap between the libraries, but you can specify that they go in different places.

You can have both K2 and K3 coexisting on the same machine with no problem. They are entirely different apps.

    Awesome!

Now..... if I open a Nuendo project that originally used K2, but I also have K3 installed, which Kontakt version will open up inside Nuendo....K2 or K3?

    Thanks,

    T

K2 would open. K2 and K3 are entirely different apps/plugs so if you have a preexisting Nuendo project that utilizes K2, it's always going to open K2. (If you remove K2 from the plug-ins folder, it will NOT automatically switch to K3 -- it'll give you a plug-in not found error.)

Just to add a bit to this, as David says, you can consider K2 and K3 as completely different applications - the K3 install doesn't affect K2 in any way.

One thing you may want to keep in mind is that there is overlap between the libraries. (In particular, the VSL instruments are all duplicated, and some things are moved around and renamed - at first it looked as though some things were actually missing, but I later discovered that they were renamed.) So in addition to using a lot of disk space, if you index both K2 and K3 libraries with K3, you will have some duplicates.
