on that point, I would be very happy with a few well designed synth VST's which are optimized for the standalone's UI (and CPU). Running Massive on a standalone where you can't edit s**t without a mouse, it makes no sense unless you are just using presets...

yup; cos I've never heard the X had a battery I dont think its portable like the X but namm will tell all; but the real test is when people get they hands on the unit.

the more I think about it I'm almost hoping for Ni to forgo trying to make the ultimate Maschine and just get the software straight of this one but go on to make little boxes not to much bigger than the korg volcas and roland boutiques... with great connectivity, one for each of the core komplete apps like reaktor blocks, etc... I would love to have a little collection of hardware komplete modules. Reaktor, Massive, absynth, etc...

I'd rather NI doesn't try to make a standalone and just focus on what they already have on their plate... The last thing I would want to happen is for them to take on doing something else which might take their time away from working on features and improvements people have been begging for... rather than they continue to go the route of working on products to try and capture and pull in people from other products and markets (JAM, KK)

Yup please stop watering down the ecosystem. When Maschine becomes a killer app (and that is totally possible) ... Sure please go ahead. Right now all that money in marketing and hardware is best spent on the software, you can't build on flimsey foundations... Sorry. Take a break, get it sorted and bounce back in 2018.. or just keep being the product that always is playing catch up and bolting on more bloat.

It's my understanding that this is not runnign on Windows Embedded but it's own OS and it's not on an intel cpu. So the main issue is probably porting over the stuff to whatever platform they chose to run the software on. At that point it would be smart of Akai to just not allow it because it would cause more issues than is necessary when users can just bounce down the audio and use that instead.

I'd rather see NI stay the course with Maschine. What would be interesting is a NI laptop.
