Got it. Liked it up until the sub bass drum thing kicked in, Muddied up the real bass, probably because the notes were not the same. Great idea though. Inspired me! Wish you would of used all the parts rather than just the main verse over and over. Thank you, Good job.

Thanks bro appreciate the feed back....I'm still learning about mixing sub an kick drum.....sorry I didn't use the whole piano was trying to catch bpm's cause the main bpm is 77.50 but drops to 73 and goes to 80 so I chose a part that stayed more consistent for what I was doing.....but I tried glad you liked part of it and I'll work on my mixing and your awesome on the keys as well

Believe it or not, it is one tempo all the way through, but I did real time retards on the bridge and that's probably what threw you. I was imaging a rise type thing there and hit out to chorus. But I never changed the bpm. Also for a song like this the dirt on the drums is not really necessary.

It comes from classical music, and is used in many other genres. It is where an orchestra plays out of time to give the illusion of tempo change. Think of it in drum language as three against four > you know how that beat sounds right? So with a retard a player goes off the click slowly but comes back on one in a measure or two. It is also done the other way where a lead voice will play ahead of the beat except it is called a Accelerando . Either way after a measure or two every one comes back to lock in with the clock, but the clock remains constant.

If you have a DAW, you can experiment with poly rhythms. Make a track in common or 4/4 time. Then make a track in 5/4. Adjust the 5/4 track so that is matches the 4/4 track exactly in length by adjusting the BPM. Best to do with just a simple kick on every beat in 4/4 and a snare in 5/4. listen to how that syncopation sounds. Then play around with other time signatures against each other but the same length. This is called poly rhythm syncopation. On piano we have things called triplets but we also a fiflets, making five notes fit perfectly in a four count. Fun stuff to learn and hear what the effect sounds like. The longer you listen to them the easier they become but will ultimately help with retards and accelorondos. here is a friend of mine that takes this to the extreme and is very talented, listen to his track. Another great creator to listen to is Haywyre. He's yet another great player and user of poly rhythm. .

Thanks, Just find some things very difficult to do in maschine since you can't have a track play through a scene. Which if they added would make this truly a Maschine studio. Really have got use to the flow but don't like still having to use a DAW. But thanks, it's one of the few tracks I've done completely in maschine.

Wow. Great skills in here. It’s a pleasure for me to follow you on SoundCloud. I really like your way to play the piano.
I‘ve sampled it right now directly from SoundCloud into MK3 by iPhone ;-)
If I have time enough I‘m going to chop it up. Perfect to improve my slicing/sampler skills on MK3. Maybe some Jazz?
Hope you‘ll find your way with Maschine.
