Holy ****. I’m surprised light is even still getting through!

“both units now feature large color screens with a row of RGB buttons along the top”

That’s interesting. I’m looking forward to seeing what the RGB lights behind the top buttons on the Mk3 will be used for in the future.

Interesting. Just yesterday i pulled a pad back a little to peek inside and noticed they were super thick, that explains a lot.
I like these blog posts, NI should do more of these with inside info on how things work, are made and by who.

    Are thicker pads better?
    If so why?

I have a Push 1 which has thick pads and I don't like it.
I much prefer the pads on Korg products which are much thinner.
It seems thick pads need to be hit harder to register the same level of input - something my fingers hate.

There are of course other variables like the material the pads are made from and the sensor technology.

Thick pads tend to respond more consistenly across their surface.

you would think, but They're not that soft at all. At least not compared to previous versions and the competition (push is for sure softer) and they are SUPer responsive , to the point where you can get them to light up just by lightly touching without hearing much at all.

It's more of a preference than a reality.
If you like or dislike thick pads it's more about what works better for your style along with the adjustments you can make for the response of the pads.

It would be cool if we could buy pads with different softness, transparency, etc..

Not these ones, they are more sensitive in the corners and less sensitive overall compared to previous maschines. They still work great though.

Guess what, that is not the case with the Mk3. The edges and the middle have way different sensitively levels.

Edit* Lol, Just saw the post before mine. Dito.
