I would LOOOOVE to see FM8 available for ipad, I was thinking that the design of the synth could be based on the computer version with a few minor tweaks.

    Menus:
The menus are at the bottom, labelled Expert, Morph, FX, Master, Browser and Keys. Also on the very left is a button to send a 500ms 440Hz tone signal through the synth (like pressing the 440 A key on your keyboard) so you can hear what sound you have without having to revert to the keys page every time.

    Pages:

    1. Expert
This page has oscillator and matrix overviews like in the original. Because the ipad has a decent sized screen, you could have the main window as an overview of the matrix, and when you double tap on an oscillator, it activates it. Dragging up or down on a free area in the matrix adjusts the level just like the original, and you can get an overview of the oscillator and its functions by doing a zoom in motion with your fingers over the selected oscillator. Since the A5 chip is not as powerful, and due to screen size limitation for touch functionality, it would be great to have just three oscillators A B C, with the X and Z oscillators as in the original. This would allow the routing to be used just as in FM8. Only one LFO and control for pitch bend and vibrato/modwheel will be needed and would be enough to get the sounds started. All oscs and envelopes can also be viewed with dedicated buttons on this page, which will not interfere with matrix controls. For waveforms, only have Sine, Square, and Triangle (as all the soft ones can be made with filtering and saw with feedback) and the 1-3-5 squares and saws.

    2. Morph
Exactly the same as on the original FM8 but without the XY screen. Works in exactly the same way as the full FM8.

    3. Master
Has the Output, Unison, and Portamento sections. Arpeggiator is not included in ipad version to save on space, size and cpu. Voices are limited to 16 and can have max unisono of 4.

    4. FX
Has a shelving EQ, overdrive, and 'lite' versions of the reverb and chorus/delay with fewer parameters. Each effect is turned on or off using double taps. Those are the 4 most important anyway IMO and wouldn't be too heavy on processors.

    5. Browser
Contains a few factory sounds and has a page for custom sounds. Also would be good to have a batch export function so that when the ipad is plugged into the pc via usb connection, the sounds you make on the go can be exported and used as part of your productions (which is why I originally thought of this). For me I love making sounds on the go and as a big FM8 fan would be great to be able to port sounds to the laptop for further tweaking.

    6. Keys
This contains the keyboard pages, and also has a pitch adjust like in the master page.

    Just my 2 cents...
