i'm a freelance engineer/programmer who has to travel often for work. it would be great if i could travel with the native instruments' massive and komplete 4 bundle as easily as i travel with all the rest of my protools plug-ins.

a great option would be what celemony did with their software melodyne studio. even though many people don't use their program in conjunction with protools, they made it a paid option to have your liscence moved to your pace ilok account. i think celemony may have charged around $35., which seems like a fair price.

this is also becoming the method for audio units plug-ins used in logic as well as protools plug-ins. motu's mach5, izotope trash, altiverb, pitch 'n time, autotune, soon to be sony oxford line, soon to be soundtoys bundle, melodyne, etc. are all authorized using the ilok.

what do other people do when you have to show up at a studio with a hired out computer/daw? is there an easy way to do this if you already have two computers back home authorized?

the ilok authorization method works great for this. it makes you feel like you actually own the software and can use it wherever you want.

    thanks for your time.

    No dongles for me

I'm very turned off to the idea of USB dongles. It's bad enough that I need one for Logic Pro. When you're on the go and you forget it, lose it, or if it breaks (mine broke once), you're screwed. I haven't upgraded my Korg Legacy because of their switch to dongle protection.

It would be nice to be able to install ni products without having to go to the web or get a registration, then it would feel like the product is 100% yours like a piece of hardware.

    Oh please, no dongle!
Not forgetting any gear is difficult enough when you're on the road, let alone a whole pile of usb dongles....

I have not been able to use my license for Mach5 due to pace problems with my DAW, so, well, no thanks!
