The notes cut off when they aren't supposed to, they sustain when they aren't supposed to... what is the problem?

If it's a SONAR problem, then why don't I have the problem with any other plug in?

No matter I have the Mixing Latency Buffer Size or Buffers in Playback Que set, it's the same thing.

All I ask is that if play a note when I tell it to and stop a note when I tell it to. Why is that so hard?

Sorry if I sound pissy, but I've about had it. My work flow is at a standstill till I figure this out.

    Here's my set up:

    Hardware:
    Intel P4 2.8GHz
    1GB RAM
    Delta 1010LT
    GE-Force FX5200
    Roland XP-80

    Software:
    Sonar 6.2 PE
    BFD Drum Module XFL
    Dimension Pro
    Native Instruments B4 II
    Sound Forge 8.0

One solution might be to make sure if you're using any usb plugin that the power saving feature is off. This is when your system is trying to save power (for laptop I guess, but it's on regular pc's in windows as well) and you hold down a note and then it sticks cause it powers down??!! I don't know too much about this stuff yet, but I had that problem too and that's what fixed mine.

Check the archives..I know that's what everyone says, but I've seen it brought up a lot in the past and maybe someone had the same problem as you with Sonar and b4...best of luck to you, I know it's frustrating when you pay all that money for something that doesn't work right..I just bought a motion sound pro 145 "leslie" cause I'm tired of the sounds and overdrive from b4II.

Thanks, Duff, but all that is turned off, no power save, no screen saver, etc.

I sure wish someone from NI would tak a look at this. Don't they check this forum? Isn't that the main thing it's for?

Guess I'll have to email their support.

I got a message from support to upgrade to the latest version... stupid me, I forgot I already had it but neglected to install it. I was thinking I had.

I'll let you know here if the new version is the solution to my problem.

Updating to the newest version had no effect on the problem. Reported it to support. We'll see.

So, no one else has this problem? I'm using SONAR 6PE.

It might be wise to test B4II also in Hermann Seib's VstHost and maybe energyXT, if B4II runs fine in these 2 hosts, then there mught be a problem with the Sonar6.2+B4II combination ...

I just purchased B4II and I have the exact same problem...I've emailed the tech support for help after screwing with the sample rate and latency. I have a Pentium D 2.8G with 1G of RAM, and a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS soundcard. I recently purchased Amplitube 2 Live and have been playing my guitar through the USB port...there are no problems with polyphony while playing chords or scales, and the program is processing an audio signal which I imagine requires more processing power than a binary on/off signal. I kinda doubt it's the processor/computer slowing it down. Anyway, I'll post if I hear back.

I frickin' give up. No further response from NI after reporting that update doesn't fix the problem. I will certainly be reluctant to buy another NI priducts if this is how they treat their customers.

Just wanted to chime in and say I'm having the exact same problem. It seems the note-ons are working, but timed badly and the note-offs get ignored 50% of the time resulting in a horrendous buildup of notes.

This is interesting because it's a new problem. The last song I used the B4 on, it worked perfectly. Why / how?? No change in software or system.

Are you listening/reading, NI? You seemed to have ignored my last support corresponcence.

I HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM! (kind of)

I'm pleased to report that I have gotten the B4 to behave on Sonar5. Apparently the problem only exists with the DXi version of the plugin. I switched to the VST version and all is well. This is not a solution to what ails the other version, but at least it gets you up and running.

Cool Blueshift! So, save me some time and tell me how I know if I'm using it as Dxi or VST. How do I find out? How do I switch it?

The only way I know how to use it is as a VST plug in. Damn. Well, maybe I should go the other way and try it as Dxi, but I don't see that as an option in the SONAR Synth Rack.

    Dan-
Take a look in your SharedDXI folder and your VST folder and see if B4 is listed in both. When I choose to insert the B4 I see it listed in two places on the dropdown. I picked the one in the VST list instead of the other and voila. It might have been a strange-vagaries-of-software coincidence that it started working when I switched, but it does work flawlessly now. Also, I am using B4, not B4 II (which a lot of folks don't like soundwise right now), but the problem described is identical. Good luck.

Thanks, I'll check it out this evening. I didn't see both in the dropdown, but maybe I can do something in the properties of the Synth Rack.

Just an update on the problem, I've only just now been able to work on a song with organ. I did figure out that B4 II is available as Dxi and VST. I used the Dxi route just now and it's working right, which is great!

The baffling thing is that just for the hell of it, I switched it back to the VST route and itseems to be working fine there as well! I don't get it. I'll try some other songs to see what happens.

Damn it. It was working fine until the last chord that holds for two measures. It doesn't stop until four or five, each note ending at a different beat although they are programmed to stop at the same time.

Something is still wrong! HEAR THAT NI??????

I'm not sure if this will help, but,

I've noticed that B4 in Nuendo 3 can drop notes if the drawbars have "conflicting" automation written. In other words, if you play the organ, and record one pass of note-ons as well as drawbar changes, and then in a new pass redo some of the drawbar moves, you can end up with a couple of drawbar messages "conflicting" with each other.

In my case it resulted in dropped notes.

    Hope it helps,

    m

Thanks, but no, I'm not doing anything like that. In fact I'm programming in the Piano roll View.
