Does anyone know of an ensemble that has a pretty good Rhodes sound in it?

Are you looking for an actual Rhodes sound, like a 1972 "Chick Corea with Miles Davis" kind of sound. . . or a horrific FM-synthesis Yamaha DX7 "rhodes" sound, like in the theme song to "Doogie Howser, M.D." or "Law & Order"?

(my appologies if you're not from the states, or were raised by parents smart enough to keep thier kids away from network TV).

Rhodes pianos are electromechanical, and there is no way to accurately emulate the sound through any current (non-sample-based) form of synthesis. There is a vsti called "Lounge Lizard" that comes sort of close without using samples, but all the most accurate and musically pleasing emulators (NI's included) just use a really good sample set recorded from a real Rhodes. It's no different than trying to emulate guitar strings or an acoustic piano. . . there are just to many moving/resonant/percussive elements to make physical modeling feasable.

heres a decent sample based one, with very little in the way of control. also, the tremelo is pan-based, which is a bit annoying sometimes.

wh, funny that you mentioned doogie howser and law and order when mentioning th DX EP, thats always what (unfortunately) comes to mind here, as well. law and order isnt exactly bad, just kinda boring. doogie howser, OTOH, thank god that slipped into obscurity.

Sorry it's not a Reaktor ensemble , but the best-sounding Rhodes emulation I've heard is a simple FREE VST called
mda epiano. It's on their website.
