I'm sorry that I have to say that, as I've brought this issue up before. Just today, I turned on my comp, expecting everything to work as normal. Take a guess.... take a WILD guess what happened. That's right, Kontakt decideds that it's 'not registered' yet (after working fine for a few months) This time, the hardware ID has changed again, requiring another stupid serial number. Mind you, NOTHING has changed in my system. This is a workstation dedicated to audio and there is nothing internet - related etc on it. I've gotten it stable and it's working fine. Nothing new, no new RAM, CD rom etc. Everything's the SAME. but NOOOOOO Kontakt 'decides' something's changed and now I have to go through this TR@^$@#%$@% again. NI GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER PLEASE.

NI! I just tried to reauthorize and now your system tells me my systen ID has previously been deactivated. PLEASE NATIVE INSTRUMENTS, I hope you understand how I feel, when a previously 'working - fine' system just 'dies' like that for NO REASON. Please, I hope you do something about this. I'm a very very very very very very disappointed user and honestly, if this keeps up, I would really have to switch samplers. I really cannot afford to have to deal with this all the time (like every 3 months?). And i'm pretty sure you've had your fair share of complaints about this stupid copy protection system. Come on please NI, what we need is software that works reliably, not something that dies as and when it decides to. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

    Very disappointed user.

NI's phone support has been very helpful for me in the past with issues regarding authorization (because I couldn't get their mail pass the ISP's spam filter). They took their time to walk through everything.

So, I recommend just picking up the phone and calling them, I'm sure they will be very helpful.

Hey bduffy, the features are nice in 1.5.2 but like mentioned authorizing really sucks, I still can't. I'm just kinda numb from all of it nowadays. I noticed that after updating that in the instrument bar my presets are missing when I press the pre button I get a tiny little white bubble, what's up with that crap? I noticed with NI they come up with great features but when it comes to focusing on stability and reliability it seems that those 2 words bypass there vocabulary. Sorry NI!

Same bubbles here pressing the "pre-button" after upgrading Kontakt to version 1.5.2 on a Mac (OS 10.2.8 as well as OS 10.3.3).
I thought it would be an Apple specific bug.......

Thanks for the extra feedback, Briguy. I think I'll try upgrading to 1.5x on my next payday, if the Mousewheel is working, and Kontakt doesn't still steal Hotkey-focus from Cubase. If it doesn't work, I'll just go back ot 1.2.

Oh yeah - I know what happened to your presets - and you're not going to believe this: When you install Kontakt 1.5, it totally eradicates all traces of previous Kontakts - including not only any custom presets, but Kontakt's original presets. What you have to do is backup your 1.2x presets, templates, etc BEFORE installing 1.5x...Amazing, eh? Grab the earlier versions of Kontakt, try uninstalling 1.5, re-install 1.x, backup your presets, etc, then install 1.5.

It's a shame NI isn't at least including some advice/warning about it anywhere (website, ReadMe's)...but I guess that's what Forums are for!

    Best Regards,

I've finally 'solved' my problem by 'going elsewhere' just lumpyhed. I'm really sorry I have had to do this. I'm a legit user and I BOUGHT my copy of Kontakt. It's just that the copy protection was really really screwing up my otherwise stable system and I really didn't have to deal with that kinda grief for something I paid good money for. A couple of hundred for something that decides when it likes to die? No thanks. Sorry NI, I really have to do this, but neither did you have to implement that copy protection scheme. 1.2 was working just fine.

Well, thanks for the heads up on that one bduffy, I would have never known that!. Geez that's pretty darn pathetic, So I literally have to install my original 1.1 ver then make a back up of those pre's then install 1.5.2 and some how call up the backed up pre's, man oh man what's up with that?. Again thanks nice to a least be able to find these things out from other users going through different situations. I hope NI fixes this. What a drag!.

    For Presets:

look on the Kontakt CD-ROM under the FILES folder

just copy the folder to the directory you installed Kontakt to -- that solved my problem of disappearing presets.

    -------------------

sorry I can't help out with the system ID problems guys!

    hoping you get it sorted
