I get the distinct feeling that NI does not care about this app other than to give their customers that own iDevices the option to buy more of their product.

Aside from the expansions, what other big improvements/changes have NI made to their "sketch board".

I get the concept behind iMaschine, but the offerings in the music creation app marketplace make iMaschine look like a joke.

I'll be honest, I'm a NI SUPPORTER (to the fullest, Maschine, K8U, iMaschine, ALL the expansions), but I was very disappointed after purchasing iMaschine. I'll be honest, the app is on my phone (was on my iPad, but removed it after I saw how it looked on the screen) but I NEVER use it.

While on the road I use BM2 and transfer finished tracks to my DAW. It's a painstaking process, but when it's all said and done, I at least have a completed track that just requires additional mixing/mastering.

I refuse to buy any more expansions for an app I NEVER use.

Do yourself a favour, stay the hell away from this app.

May have been a bit harsh in this one....

All the same, NI needs to step up their APP game.

Seriously, trying to compare a mobile sketch tool for Maschine like iMaschine to a full-fledged all-in-one app like BM2 is seriously missing the point.

That doesn't mean iMaschine shouldn't/won't be improved but the point is that iMaschine is in a different category of tools compared to the likes of BM2/Nanostudio.

Unbelievable how far haters will go. The Imaschine is $4.99; not much more than a large coffee. I can sit on a plane and bang out basic grooves: it works. It keeps me in the environment of one of my favorite pieces of gear Maschine Yes ,its not some other product...DUH! Why can't folks who find something they like just go to work and not trash everything else.

I think i paid 99p for it, and it's fine for banging out some patterns to import into Maschine.
It is what it is - a 'sketch pad'.

Not a hater by any means.

I already recanted my statement above, do some reading.

The point that needs to be addressed is the comparison between what NI put out and what they could have put out.

IF I was hating on NI on a whole, I wouldnt own any of their product, period. This is just an opinion of a CUSTOMER of the product who has read various other posts and has decided to give an opinion. IF you love the app, more power to you. Wish you all the best and I honestly hope the your music gets you where you want to be career wise.

I`m just a disappointed customer who is hoping NI is listening.

What people are saying is that you're disappointed because you had a false expectation based on comparing tools belonging to entirely different categories of use-case scenario. Therefore, your bashing of iMaschine in the first post is misinformed and unwarranted.

The worst part about iMaschine is that it's actually what they said it was. :D
Many of us expected it to be more than it was but accepted it was just our perspective not a promise from NI.

I never got any use out of it or the packs I purchased but then again I never got any use out of my iPad2 either.:(

Just seems a lot easier to carry a small laptop that can do everything I need than to mess around with the iPad path.

Personally I hope they continue to put focus on their real products not the App Store.

No false expectations by any means.

iMaschine is what it is, and I'm appreciative of what it is. No comparison required.

I've made the conscious decision to buy it, try it and quite frankly, I think NI did a great job with their "sketch pad" app.

But you honestly can't blame me for "comparing" apps and what they offer and not take my "opinion" to a forum where open discussion is welcomed. That's silly.

People who have yet to purchase iMaschine and want to know what someone who has purchased it thinks, might come here to get the take of someone who has.

Some people prefer to work out full music on the go and not just "sketch" ideas. I happen to travel quite a bit and this app doesn't really do it for me. When I play something for an artist while on the go, I would rather play something closer to being completed than a 32 bar loop.

Mind you, the title of this topic may have been a bit harsh, and I did mention that in the second post, I still believe that if you are going to "spend money" on a "music composing" app, there are a number of them out there that offer more choice and option than this one.

I think that the frustration people are expressing with iMaschine is not from what it is or isn't but of what it could be if N.I. just added a couple of standard features. The problem N.I. faces is that if they allow it to become too good it might cannabilize sales of their hardware. Akai is facing the same problem with iMPC.If you notice apps. from software only companies such as Intua(Beatmaker), Propellerheads(Figure) and Blip Interactive(Nanostudio) are full featured and constantly updated because they don't have that fear. There are exceptions such as Moog(Animoog) and Korg (iElectribe,iMS-20,iKaossicalor&iPolySix) but they have such an established hardware user base that they aren't worried about a little old IOS device cutting into their sales. In fact, their reputations have been enhanced by their IOS offerings. I love Animoog, but I'm buying a Sub Phatty as soon as it hits the streets.

The other frustrating aspect is that we have come to expect quality software from N.I. Why not reward loyal customers of Maschine with a professional, full featured app. that can be fully integrated with their desktop software?

How do you know they aren't working on an update now? NI hasn't left too much business on te table over the years and they have been innovative. Why assume the negative about a company that has been so positive? I'm amazed that after all the free updates , bargain upgrades , holiday freebies and generous vouchers ,NI still gets NO BENEFIT OF DOUBT even in their own forum.

They may very well be working on an update,I hope they are, but it has been nearly a year. 1.04 was released last May. Personally I would rather pay for rather significent, frequent updates than wait long periods for free updates.

Not to bash N.I., I just feel that in this particular area they can do better, IMHO. That is the whole purpose of User Forums, to make suggestions, express concerns, share information, tips, etc. I don't know of any company/vendor that is above criticism. Communication is key.

Ah! It's lovely to see how some things never change. NI's no1 fanboy still bumps his gums at any tiny criticism of his gods' output.

But how some other things change. This time I agree with Noiserot. I actually quite like iMaschine. Sure, it will never be used to compose a complete track but I've used it to put together some stuff that I could never have done without it. Possibly my expectations were less than those of others. Perhaps my mind was more open than I previously thought. I've had so much fun with iMaschine, I'm actually thinking of buying the big one.

I'm not sure how many updates you can expect from a product that costs the same as a pint of beer. It does what it does, and it does it fine, it works on my tiny iPhone 3GS screen.

I doubt the all singing all dancing iPad application that is bound to appear at some point will be an update to this particular app, and I doubt it'll cost the same as a pint of beer either. I think we'll know more about how seriously NI are going to take iOS when they shortly release their DJing app, it'll give us an idea about how much functionality they'll put into an app, and at what price point.

Do yourself a favor and uninstall it from your iphone or ipad maybe? Don't like uninstall it and sell your maschine. It makes the forum less cluttered with cry babies that NI doesnt do this or that. The bottom line is the whiners of NI, always come back and buy their products.
