Has there been any word on whether NI is considering making an iPad version of Maschine?

I have been using the iMaschine (for iPhone) app and transferring music over to my Mac and it's been fantastic, but I would love to be able to do more with the tracks I've made while on the road.

I use the app as much as possible, but with apps like Beatmaker 2 and Nanostudio on my iPad, it's hard not to jump on one of those to create a (somewhat complete) track.

We've all seen what some of these other apps are capable of and as an owner of a LOT of NI products, I would love to have an app similar to those that will allow me to do more on my iPad (and iPhone).

    C'mon NI, make this happen.

Use some of the real estate that iPad has to offer and give us an interface on the iPad that looks and operates like the actual Maschine.

Compared to what other apps offer (even ones created by a one-man-team), iMaschine is nothing special.

I bought it when it was released and have never seriously used it and prefer to use NanoStudio and Beatmaker as they are much more substantial sketchbooks.

My hope is that rather than building on the poor iMaschine that they do release something a bit more in the future.

A PRO version that allowed much more integration with Maschine software would be the business!

Moreso I would LOVE them to creat an iPad controller for Maschine so that all I needed to take on the road was my laptop and ipad for making beats in Maschine.

It would be nice to even know that such an update is in the works, don't you think. I love maschine and iMaschine. What a great combination with the ipad real estate they could be.

Not disagreeing too much, but a couple of strong points to touch on with the iMaschine:

It seems to flat-out sound better than Beatmaker2/NanoStudio (to be fair, I'm not that deep with those apps). I don't know if my perception is due to the sound engine, or if it's simply the stock sounds and in-app sound packs are just more polished than most ios music apps. I'm guessing you can as good quality out of NS and BM2, but with more efx tweaking and EQing required.

    Just one man's opinion.

I also think they're overdue for transforming it into a more "pro" feature-filled tool.

I wonder if the drag is partially due to concerns that people might pass on real Maschine if they made a super-tight app that was more DAW-ish?

Yeah, I've said this before but my guess is that NI are deliberately staying away from taking on iOS platform in a serious way because they're weary of it cutting into the sales of the Maschine desktop app + hardware combo. I mean, yes, it should be technically feasible to have a fairly full featured iOS app that does what Maschine does (well, probably not hosting plugins other than the way Auria does it) on the iPad, but is it in the best interest of NI as a business?

And it doesn't make sense at all to compare full featured apps like Nanostudio/BM2 with iMaschine which is a sketch tool for Maschine. NI knew exactly what they were doing with iMaschine, even if a lot of us might want a much more powerful and fully featured iOS app from them. We'll see if they grow iMaschine into something much more than what it is currently, or if Maschine (or other NI products) enters the iOS platform in a serious way, which is not to say that having a simple, intuitive, mobile sketch tool for Maschine isn't already valuable as it is.

It might all very well come down to software piracy considering pretty much all popular music software out there, including most everything from NI, are usually pirated. And given there are hundreds of millions of iPad users already, if NI was to make available a controller app with total control over the Maschine software, it probably would cut in on potential Maschine sales. So while I would personally love a full-on iPad controller app, I think it's more likely for NI to make a complimentary iPad app for Maschine that still requires the Maschine hardware for what it already does and only adds additional functionality that takes advantage of the touchscreen interface.

Some very valid points, but I think with the addition of an expanded app that only allows connectivity to registered versions of Maschine (FL Studio HD app currently offers this) What are you really losing out on?

I don't think having it as a controller for the desktop version would be a great idea (I'd prefer the hardware), but to expand upon the features currently available (like with Beatmaker2 and Nanostudio) so that you can funk with it outside of your studio and do the more finite things when back in the lab.

For example, I have a home studio, and I do strictly production (no voc's). So it is not imperative to have artists come to my studio. I do travel quite a bit and I always use my iPad (with iO Dock and midi keyboard) with my clients to start the basis of the track I build them. This is an easy and useful travel studio for me. problem is, I have to convert everything over to wave or midi once I get back home to use them in Maschine. For me, using a more expanded version of iMaschine would benefit me greatly. As far as cost, I'm already in to NI for quite a bit already (Maschine, iMaschine, Komplete 8 Ult. ALL Maschine Expansions, etc.), I would mind dishing out $20-$60 for an app that will be my official rig on the road.

    Just makes sense.

C'mon NI atleast consider the potential.

I guess I should have mentioned that this is not an official picture, but rather a artist concept.

Thought I made that evident in my comment.

Just wishful thinking, bro. Saw it and just posted it for all the people in here who want this to happen.

Gotta admit, the artist did an amazing job though!

Any word on updating Imaschine with Audiobus? Audio copy/paste? I could make some nice beats using Imaschine if I could do something with my loops. Right now, the dust is getting thick on it.

Not sure why they would considering it's just a sketch pad to bring into Maschine.

    Why wouldn't they?

You could use imaschine to sample other apps via audiobus

You could record imaschine beats in other apps for further processing then bring it back if you want

I think the whole maschine ecology would benefit from a more advanced imaschine with midi support, audiobus support, a sequencer etc. etc.

iOS is the way to go if you're a serious music software maker, just look at what Steinberg just did with Cubasis for iPad!

As long as people are making music on their Mac and PCs I don't think a more advanced iMaschine app will cut down on the sales of Maschine, probably the opposite! People who buys iMaschine on the ipad/iPhone might very well become interested in the full package!

And if we ever stop making music on our computers it should definitely be in NIs interest as a business to join the party as soon as possible!

I think it would be foolish to deliberately keep iMaschine out of this new iOS movement, they have nothing to loose and everything to win on it!
    ---
    I have a dream:

    - Make iMaschine for ipad look and feel like the full Maschine software. The iPhone version should stay the way it is more or less. iMaschine should also be able to sync projects between devices so I can start a beat in my iPhone, then continue to work on it on the ipad

    - Create a hardware controller for the ipad

    - When we connect the ipad hardware controller to a computer it controls Maschine software and iMaschine/iPad provides additional controls for the software

    - All iMaschine projects instantly becomes available in the browser of Maschine to open up and bring to the next level

I would definitely go all in there! And if some won't I don't think NI has anything to loose.

Here you go NI! I give you all these ideas for free! :)

    COSIGN!

Not too crazy about the controller (let MPC have their day), but I'm definitely on board for the inter-connectivity between systems.

Really just want an iMaschine that works like NanoStudio or Beatmaker 2. The ability to sequence, arrange, add FX and so on and so forth. I wanna feel comfortable taking my iPad on the road with me and being able to do more than just "sketch" a beat out.

Also, NI can make a some coin from this venture, in that they can offer more expansion packs for Komplete instruments and FX as in app purchases as well.

    C'mon NI!

    Something like iMPC please!...

    ...to make iMaschine more usable.

I can't even bother to start a project in iMaschine with his limitations.

I'm going to try iMPC if it suits my basics, like sampling tracks from music library for example. A must have.

The only thing would be that I could not continue the project in MPC Reinassance because I don't have one, so Native Instruments please do something more usable so we can start real projects on the go and continue them at the studio.

    Cheers

My point is mobile sketch with basics covered in the mobile version (impc, imaschine) to start ideas whenever wherever and continue that idea in the full capable version of the program (reinassance, Maschine).

I think is usable in that sense the Akai workflow. I want Native Instrument to take an example and better hurry to release an update in iMaschine.
