Imaschine is the best app hands down! Damn this is sick! Is there a way to chop the samples you record in though? Like set start and stop points

li am having problems with vintage heat. purchased it but seems to fail the download.

 

Through the iTunes Library on the iDevice, or through iTunes File Transfer?

If it's the second one, I'm holding off to see what they do in future updates before I click buy. No way am I doing a full sync any time I want to add a couple of samples to my (prospective) iMaschine library.

 

Why would you have to do a full sync?

 

I just read on another post that iMaschine is not universal, and will not display on iPad in full resolution. Can you confirm this?

Would you mind posting some screen shots on your iPad? I like this but will not buy it if it's not universal.

Same here - release day hiccups I'm sure.

Just go back into the Expansions Store and you'll see that Vintage Heat has a check mark over it. Click it and then hit the Reload button...it will ask you to confirm your purchase for $0.99, and then remind you that you've already purchased it. You'll see a button to download it again for free.

It's still failing at this point but at least we know that we won't get re-charged.

 

Finally!....only downside is I won't be getting any sleep tonight and I have to get up at 6 AM for work

 

It's not yet universal. It displays on iPad at iPhone resolution. I'd guess NI will "correct" this in the future.

Through iTunes File sharing. It doesn't require you to sync. You just drag .wavs into the window and they are added to your device.

 

I'm aware that it's feasible to plug an iDevice into a computer without iTunes running through its entire sync routine. I think you're aware that iTunes fights tooth and nail to attempt to do exactly that no matter how you've configured its settings.

I worked at Apple Stores for about three years, spent about 2 years of that time doing mostly One to One training sessions, and over a year working at the Genius Bar (the periods overlapped). I'm intimately familiar with how all of this stuff is *supposed* to work.

I've also spent countless hours on the phone with the MobileMe support team because myself or another tech "did all the right things" and MobileMe still decided to devour 14,000 of someone's contacts. Or a thousand other variations on the same story.

There are tons of ways in which Apple products do exactly what it says on the tin, "they just work." Then there are these occasional blips where their behavior is straight up baffling.

I plug my iPad into my computer as infrequently as possible (I have my own methods for backing up critical data, mostly via Dropbox). I detest the iTunes sync mechanism/process, I detest iTunes file transfer, and I detest when developers don't appear to so much as consider WiFi sync as a viable feature. (Although that'll all be over soon.)

Ultimately, I was on the "don't buy" side of the fence with iMaschine anyway. I have been since I realized it was less a "Maschine companion" and more a "Mini Maschine," an app to approximate the most rudimentary features of Maschine when your computer isn't handy. I don't have any use for a Casiotone Maschine. I wanted something that would enhance my use of the tool I'm already using, both at my workstation and away.

That's apparently not what NI have in mind (at least for the moment), so I'm attempting to build a Maschine companion myself (although the whole "only 8 macros/macros disappearing anytime you change anything/sneeze/look at the screen a little funny" is killing me).

 

Nope, there isn't a native iPad version yet. But it's not bad in 2x - think NanoStudio.

I'll have to wait until I'm off work before I can post screens. Maybe someone will beat me to it..

Won't the IOS 5 wi-fi sync feature cure this problem? It's out next week.
